🚵‍♀️🧡 Orange County Shredders Is Rolling! 🧡🚵‍♂️
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting our newest Shredders region and seeing firsthand the incredible work happening in Orange County.
Thanks to a generous grant from Senator Skoufis, Shredders has launched a Bikes in Schools program for all kindergarten students in the Port Jervis School District! After a successful implementation, school leaders and PE teachers are already excited about expanding the program to additional grade levels next year. Huge thanks to Coach Sheray Sheray Tario for leading professional development training for Port Jervis elementary teachers this spring and helping set the program up for success.
In the evening, I stopped by our Orange County Shredders youth MTB program for kids ages 4-12, at the Middletown Reservoir Trails, and came away even more excited!
Coach Kara and Coach MartĂn have worked hard to bring together all the right partners in the area: supportive school staff, local bike shop partners (shoutout to NeverLost Adventures bike shop!), beginner-friendly trail systems, dedicated volunteer coaches, and the local NICA team to keep kids riding as they grow (shoutout Orange County Crushers !).
The pieces are falling into place, momentum is building, and the future is bright for Orange County kiddos!
Thank you to everyone helping get more kids on bikes!
All incoming kindergartners will ride bikes in gym class across Port Jervis school district this year!
Coach Sheray Tario led a fun and interactive professional development course for all Port Jervis elementary PE teachers in the spring.
PE teachers and NeverLost Adventures bike shop owner Dejay Birtch built up all the bikes.
