Today would have been our little girl's 45th birthday. At times it seems like a million years ago that you left us Christie, and at other times it's like yesterday because the emptiness near goes away. Happy Birthday Chris, we love you and miss you.

In the early to mid 90's I coached Melissa & Christie in elementary school hoops and then together on a CYO travel team in Jr. High school (where we took the Class B league championship and held our own against some good "A" teams). Spin ahead 30 years and this morning I go to the kick-off meeting for my grand-daughter's (Melissa's daughter Kate) 4th & 5th grade team where I have agreed to coach with Melissa. In that long interval we lost Christie to a Long QT arrhythmia and have worked tirelessly - - with your continued support - - to prevent that tragedy from taking other young lives. I am pleased to say that prior to coaching this season, I am required by law now, to have CPR and AED training. We've come a long way!!!!

Christie's Heartoberfest is having our annual SADS Awareness Day at the Saratoga racetrack a week from Sunday on July 20. Stop by the booth in front of the jockey silks room along the main entrance path in from Gate "B". And enjoy that day's NYRA Giveaway and go home with a Hawaiian shirt.

We are heading out for our 20th Heart Walk. We do it for ourselves mentally, and in memory of Christie and all of those that we have lost to heart disease and in support of those that continue thriving with heart conditions, including Barbara, Melissa, Braden, Kate, Cora and a lot of close friends and relatives.

We hope to make a difference.

Christie's Heartoberfest sadly lost one of our own this week. Our son-in-law's (Braden - Melissa's husband) Mom passed away on Monday. The obituary here, does a wonderful job highlighting the essence of Mel. If you were fortunate enough to win one of her "Mel bags" at one of our raffles, you are aware of her talents. Rest in Peace Mrs. Russom.

TODAY is our special SADS Live with TWO quests, Melissa Russom and Jadale Mitchell. .

Our first guest is Melissa Russom. She is our Communications and Marketing Consultant. Melissa has Long QT and multiple members of her family have been diagnosed as well. They were diagnosed after Melissa tragically lost her sister to Long QT.

Our second guest is Jadale Mitchell. Jadale is a 19 yr old D2 athlete studying and competing at Roosevelt University. He has CPVT and was diagnosed in middle school. He is majoring in History, African American studies, and minoring in secondary education.

We are so excited to have both of these special guests this week because they are apart of our own SADS Community!

Ticket # 298, sold to Bob & Bonnie of Rochester wins the Clubhouse box seats for next year's Saratoga meet at the horse track. We sold 308 tickets at $5 a piece, raising $1,540 for the SADS Foundation. Thank you to all of our generous supporters that participated.
