Estimated to affect about 1 in 2,000 people, LQTS is a genetic heart rhythm condition that can cause dangerous arrhythmias and needs more awareness and support.

Today, when we arrived at Saratoga Racecourse for our community outreach day on behalf of the SADS Foundation, NYRA was kind enough to donate these horse blanket/saddle towels that have been used in prior Belmont races. They offered them to us for sale as donations to the SADS Foundation, they suggested a $50 donation but we are open to negotiation.

SUNDAY - July 12: After our June HEART WALK participation, Christie's Team gears up for our annual visit to the Saratoga Race Course on behalf of the SADS Foundation where we have a day to man the NYRA Community Booth (offered generously by NYRA to non-profits, charities and other community organizations). We may raise a few dollars but our primary goal and focus as it has always been, is spreading awareness of Long QT Syndrome and it's link to sudden cardiac death. If you are at the track this Sunday (July 12) stop by the booth to say Hello, pick up a key chain / can opener or coozie, and a little background on our SADS cause. The Community Outreach Booth is in front of the jockey silks room on your way to the grandstand from the main entrance.

We just remitted the $420 matcging donation that we committed to, representing $21 per donor for up to 20 donors. We surpassed the 20 donor number and the donations ranged in amounts. Thanks all.

Today would have been our little girl's 45th birthday. At times it seems like a million years ago that you left us Christie, and at other times it's like yesterday because the emptiness near goes away. Happy Birthday Chris, we love you and miss you.

In the early to mid 90's I coached Melissa & Christie in elementary school hoops and then together on a CYO travel team in Jr. High school (where we took the Class B league championship and held our own against some good "A" teams). Spin ahead 30 years and this morning I go to the kick-off meeting for my grand-daughter's (Melissa's daughter Kate) 4th & 5th grade team where I have agreed to coach with Melissa. In that long interval we lost Christie to a Long QT arrhythmia and have worked tirelessly - - with your continued support - - to prevent that tragedy from taking other young lives. I am pleased to say that prior to coaching this season, I am required by law now, to have CPR and AED training. We've come a long way!!!!
