South Suncoast Region Bay-side Water Quality Results
🗓️ Date: October 27, 2026
🌊 Tide: Incoming, -0.1 to 1.1 feet
📋 Conditions: Suspended sediments in the water column were observed at Siesta Key Bridge, Vamo Drive, North Jetty, Manasota Key Boat Ramp, and Indian Mound Park.
🌧️ Rainfall: In the 24 hours before sampling, there was no rainfall at any of the sites. Water quality can change quickly, particularly after rainfall. Rain can wash bacteria and other contaminants from the surrounding landscape into storm drains, creeks and bays. We recommend using extra caution after rainfall.

🌊 Tide: Incoming high tide, 0.6 to 1.86 feet
📋 Conditions: Thick wrack at Herb Dolan Park; Murky water at DeSoto Memorial, Braden River, and Palmetto Bridge.
🌧️ Rainfall: In the 24 hours before sampling, there was no rainfall at any of the sites. Water quality can change quickly, particularly after rainfall. Rain can wash bacteria and other contaminants from the surrounding landscape into storm drains, creeks, and bays. We recommend using extra caution after rainfall.

🌧️ Rainfall: In the 24 hours before sampling, there was no rainfall at any of the sites. Water quality can change quickly, particularly after rainfall. 📋 Conditions: Mild wrack at Sarasota Sailing Squadron and Longboat Key Boat Ramp; Slightly murky and brown water at Braden River; Due to a road closure, Palmetto Bridge was not sampled.

Waterkeepers Florida Opposes Amendment 3

Waterkeepers Florida, representing the 15 Waterkeeper organizations working to protect and restore waters across our state, urges Floridians to vote NO on Amendment 3. By suddenly and sharply reducing the property tax base that supports local governments and Florida’s five water management districts, this amendment would jeopardize the projects our communities need to prevent pollution, protect habitat, and restore clean water.

Florida families deserve meaningful relief from rising property taxes, but abruptly cutting the revenue available to protect our waters would have bad effects on families benefiting from homestead exemptions, the same as on everybody else with loss of watershed protections. Drinking water, hunting, fishing, health, and quality of life would all be at risk.

Waterkeepers Florida urges a NO vote on Amendment 3 to protect the waters and communities we serve.
