Community grows stronger when we show up for one another.

Please join our friends at LAOSD for the 4th Annual Lao Food Festival Night Market on June 20, 2026, from 1:00–9:00 PM at Maple St Plaza in Escondido.

Come celebrate the rich flavors, culture, and traditions of the Lao community while supporting local vendors, artists, and families. Better yet, consider volunteeringβ€”a meaningful way to give back, build new friendships, and stand alongside the incredible organizers who make this event possible.

Gratitude as we reflect on today’s Across the Waves Exhibition Closing & Community Day.

A heartfelt thank you to Southwestern College, Dean Mia, Prof. J.A. Ruanto-Ramirez, the dedicated faculty, staff, and students for this meaningful collaboration. Your partnership has created a space where the Khmer American community of San Diego can be known, heard, and seen through our stories, culture, history, and shared experiences.

We are especially honored to have shared this space with Dr. Chinary Ung on such a meaningful project. His lifelong dedication to preserving and advancing Cambodian music continues to inspire generations, and it was a privilege to learn from and celebrate alongside him.

Thank you to Dr. Rebecca Penh with the County Board of Ed,, and everyone who attended, participated, and celebrated with us.

Together, we continue to build bridges across communities, generations, and culturesβ€”one conversation, one performance, and one exhibition at a time.

We look forward to many more collaborations that celebrate our shared cultural heritage.

3 More Days to Go!

Friendly reminder to RSVP for the upcoming Across the Waves Exhibition Closing & Community Day at Southwestern College on June 6, and experience firsthand Lok Pu Chinary Ung's presentation, β€œCambodian Music: Tradition, Syncretism, and Futurism.”

On November 15, 2017, several KAMASD members had the privilege of attending his 75th Birthday Celebration Concert at University of California San Diego. Nearly a decade later, I am excited for the opportunity to once again experience his music and insights in a more intimate setting.

This is a rare opportunity to learn from and connect with one of the most influential figures in Cambodian music. Don't miss it!

We are honored to support this meaningful community event at Southwestern College and invite everyone to join us!

This exhibit highlights the journeys, stories, and lived experiences of refugees who immigrated to the United States and have helped shape the vibrant communities we know today. As part of the program’s Living Museum experience, community members are invited to share their personal stories and reflections.

We especially encourage those who spent time in refugee camps before resettling in America to participate. Your experiences are a vital part of our shared history and offer powerful insights that can educate, inspire, and connect future generations.

See detailed flier below. Please RSVP and share this invitation with family, friends, and anyone who may be interested in attending or participating. We look forward to coming together to honor our community’s resilience, heritage, and lived experiences.
