PFLAG - San Diego County

PFLAG - San Diego County We offer Support, Education, and Advocacy to LGBTQ+ persons, their families, friends, and allies.

PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of LGBTQI persons and their families and friends through "SUPPORT", to cope with an adverse society; "EDUCATION", to enlighten an ill-informed public; and "ADVOCACY", to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

The North County Center is hosting its own Pride flag raising and press conference on the steps of City Hall, and we NEED our community to show up.

Why are we doing this? Despite the City of Oceanside hosting the only LGBT Center in North County for the last 19 years, the majority council -as of today- does not have the votes to raise the Rainbow flag at City Hall. In addition, we host the largest family friendly, alcohol, and to***co FREE PRIDE FESTIVAL with over 25k attendees in Oceanside, bringing revenue to our local businesses, hotels, and restaurants.

After last year's "change of heart"' from council
member Jimmy Figureroa that voted last minute against the raising of the rainbow flag citing "to have experienced the most hateful pushback" and leaving our LGBT community exposed to even further hate and isolation, this year again
we do not have the votes to have it flown. This is why -even if symbolically.
We are taking this matter into our own hands till we will have a free Oceanside from bigotry and prejudice.

We are calling on YOU to stand with us; to demonstrate the North County LGBTQ+ community's commitment to fighting injustice and the pushback on our rights. Please show up in solidarity. Pride flag raisings are a symbol of support and safety; we are taking the narrative back from bigots to proudly declare that we are human, we deserve safety, and we deserve basic decency.

Our Queerness is not a sin, flaw, nor mistake to be hidden and trampled on. Our Queerness makes us brave; it makes us stronger together.
Join us as we raise the rainbow flag and scream from the bottom of our hearts that we are here to stay.

Wednesday, June 3rd at 5:00pm at Oceanside City Hall.

PRIDE BY THE BEACH is this Saturday, June 6. It's the 19th Annual Pride by the Beach! You can share in the festivities from noon-6:00 pm. Stop by PFLAG SDC’s booth to say hi.

The Festival boasts a main stage and a community stage that showcase exceptional local entertainment, exhilarating dance performances, dedicated youth and education areas, tantalizing food, and a wide array of over 130 retail and resource vendors.

With a remarkable attendance of 23,000+, enthusiastic individuals, families, and pets, the event becomes an extraordinary celebration every year.

We are proud to announce that one of the 2026 PFLAG SDC Scholarship recipients, Gabriel Trousset, designed a banner documenting 100 years of LGBTQ+ youth advocacy history that will be displayed at this year's Pride by the Beach. It's a visual timeline meant to show our young people they are part of a long and powerful tradition of resistance. Don't miss it!

The Festival takes place at 330 North Coast Highway, Oceanside. More info at https://www.pridebythebeach.org/. For questions: [email protected].

On Friday, May 29, Theresa and Frank Burke tabled at High Tech High Middle School’s annual Pride Fest. So many enthusiastic middle schoolers participated, and we were serenaded by the San Diego Women’s Chorus. Pictured are Theresa, Frank and 8th grade teacher Savannah Kennedy. The team gave us a lovely thank you note in appreciation.

We owe pride to trans women. We owe pride to our LGBTQ+ elders and ancestors. We owe pride to all who put their lives on the line for q***r liberation.

At PFLAG National, we proudly take up the mantle of those who fought before us, and lead with love in pursuit of an accepting, affirming, and equitable world for our LGBTQ+ loved ones.
