The production follows Tam Tran (1982-2010), a reserved UCLA senior who prefers working behind the camera as she confronts the realities of living as an undocumented student. Alongside her outspoken best friend, Cinthya Felix(1984-2010), Tam steps into activism. When she is invited to testify before Congress in support of the DREAM Act in Washington, DC, she must find the courage to share her story on a national stage. After the play, there will be a special Q&A session with the cast.

Spring in San Diego brings one of the most peaceful and beautiful events of the year. The Cherry Blossom Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden transforms Balboa Park into a sea of soft pinks, blooming trees, and tranquil garden views.

From March 12 through March 15, the garden celebrates the arrival of spring with cherry blossoms in full bloom, traditional Japanese garden landscapes, and a setting that feels worlds away from the city around it. It is a great reminder of how much culture and beauty is woven into San Diego.

If you are looking for something unique to experience this spring, this is one worth adding to your list.

“One of the most unflinching voices in contemporary genre literature,” Ms. Tokuda-Hall is the author of numerous award winning, best-selling children’s and young adult books including Love in the Library, The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea. She reached national attention when she publicly refused to accept a licensing offer for her book, Love in the Library, from Scholastic, who demanded a series of edits to her author’s note that whitewashed the history of Japanese American incarceration during WWII.

Maggie is a founding member and national leader of Authors Against Book Bans. She is the co-host of the Failure to Adapt podcast.
