At the 2026 MSP State of the Airport event held on Thursday, Oct. 1, hosted by the Airport Foundation MSP, it was announced that "The Dreams We Carry," a commissioned art installation at MSP Airport Terminal 1 by Artist Kipp Kobayashi, was selected as the 2026 International CODA Award Winner for "Best Art in Transportation."

The award was presented at the CODAworx Summit CODAaward ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Sept. 30.

In her remarks at the State of the Airport event, Jana Webster, President and CEO of the Airport Foundation MSP, said, "I am thrilled to announce that the Dreams We Carry art installation created by artist Kipp Kobayashi has been chosen as the 2026 international CODA award winner for best art in Transportation! Proving once again that we are the BEST!"

Jana continued, "If you’ve passed through the Concourse G Rotunda and looked up, you’ve seen its cloud of more than 300 suspended objects. What makes this artwork special is where those objects came from. Kipp asked Minnesota residents and travelers what they would take on an imaginary one-way journey. Their answers helped shape the work, turning treasured possessions and personal memories into a shared story at MSP."

The Annual State of the Airport event is one of the ways that the Airport Foundation MSP works to support the aviation community, by bringing together business and community leaders from across the Upper Midwest with MSP airport leaders to gain insights to what powers the region's most significant economic engine - the MSP Airport.

Step into a world of frozen wonder at MSP 🫧

Swing by MSP Terminal 1’s Gallery See18 to experience Minnesota N’Ice Bubbles, a captivating photography series by Jill Greer, on view September 4–November 29, 2026.

These frozen soap bubbles appear only on the coldest Minnesota days, forming intricate crystal patterns within seconds before disappearing. Jill has spent more than a decade perfecting the art of capturing these fleeting wonders, often working in temperatures as low as –20°F, to preserve moments that last only an instant.

Each photograph reveals a tiny world of shimmering frost, delicate shapes, and ever‑changing textures. Take a closer look to discover the extraordinary beauty hidden inside a single frozen bubble.

Sculptural imagination has touched down at MSP! 😁

Visit MSP Terminal 1’s Departures Gallery to experience a selection of sculptures by Minneapolis‑based artist Dennis Kalow, on view from September 4, 2026 through August 30, 2027.

Kalow’s works invite viewers to look beyond recognizable objects and explore form itself, where shape, line, color, and texture become the primary subjects. While his sculptures may hint at familiar things, they ultimately stand as independent visual statements, sparking curiosity and emotional response through the interplay of materials and design.

For more than fifty years, Kalow has explored the possibilities of making and teaching art, from clay and pottery to architecture and historic preservation. Since returning to sculpture full‑time in 2017, he has continued to push the boundaries of three‑dimensional form, embracing the endless potential of materials.

Travelers are invited to slow down, look closely, and let imagination take the lead as they encounter each piece.

New exhibit alert! 🏙️

Drop by MSP Terminal 1’s North Mall Gallery to explore Buildings, Time & Place, a striking collection of eighteen illustrations by Minneapolis‑based artist Tony Pulver. Highlighting everything from beloved landmarks to quiet neighborhood gems, each portrait captures the character and community life woven into Minnesota’s built environment.

Created with fine‑line pens and alcohol markers, these works blend crisp detail with soft, layered color, shifting between watercolor‑like washes and bold illustration to showcase each building’s unique personality.

Whether you recognize every structure or discover new places to appreciate, this exhibition invites you to slow down, look closely, and rediscover the spaces that shape our sense of home.

Artists, friends, and family gathered on Monday, July 20, at the MSP Airport, Terminal 1, Concourse C Art Gallery to celebrate the opening of “Headwaters: Where the Current Begins,” a new arts exhibition presented by Arts@MSP featuring work by members of the ROHO Collective and the St. Paul Art Collective. Hosted by Airport Foundation MSP, the evening also featured a menu presented by OTG and Caribou Coffee.

Speakers included Brian Ryks (Executive Director and CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission), Jana Webster (President and CEO of the Airport Foundation MSP), Ben Owen (Director of Arts@MSP), Christopheraaron Deanes (ROHO Collective Co-Executive Director), Mariusz Kujawski (St. Paul Art Collective Executive Director), and Special Guest Mayor Kaohly Her (Mayor of Saint Paul), each emphasizing how MSP Airport connects millions of travelers with the creative energy and cultural richness of the Upper Midwest.

“Headwaters” takes inspiration from the idea that the cultural waters of the American Midwest begin here, in the studios, neighborhoods, and artistic communities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The exhibition is on display now through November 30, 2026.

A new exhibit has arrived in Gallery E4 at MSP Terminal 1! 🪨

Explore Dan Mason’s luminous oil paintings, inspired by landscapes from Minnesota’s far north, particularily Gunflint Lake along the Canadian boarder. Mason builds his surfaces through layered applications of transparent oil paint, creating a rich depth of color and a subtle luminosity that feels as though light is glowing from within. The Belgian linen canvas enhances the texture and tactile quality of these delicate glazes. Across his work, Mason seeks to evoke stillness and quiet reflection rooted in the natural world.

On view through June 30, 2027.
