Minnesota PRSA is the ninth largest chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals with nearly 32,000 professional and student members. Through our programs and services, Minnesota PRSA delivers on its mission of engaging members at every stage of their careers with the knowledge, resources and connections to achieve professional excellence, drive ethical and strategic outcomes, and advocate for the profession. 🎉 95 years of a wonderful life — and an extraordinary legacy in public relations!

Minnesota PRSA was honored to help celebrate Lowell Ludford, APR, Fellow PRSA, on his 95th birthday at Mindekirken Norwegian Church in Minneapolis.

A pioneer in journalism and public relations, Lowell created his own degree at the University of Minnesota before working at KSTP radio and TV, leading PR and communications at 3M and later serving the American Red Cross and Minnesota Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His career has made a lasting impact on our profession.

The celebration honored Lowell’s professional legacy and personal milestones: 67 years of marriage to Donna, three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Emceed by Dave Mona, the luncheon featured heartfelt tributes from family, friends and colleagues David Schoeneck, APR, and David Therkelsen, APR, Fellow PRSA, Minnesota PRSA President Grete Lavrenz, APR and some hilarious stories from Lowell himself.

A traditional Norwegian smorgasbord — complete with lefse, waffles, lingonberries and meatballs that sparked a friendly Swedish-versus-Norwegian recipe debate! 🇳🇴🇸🇪 — made the gathering even more memorable. Pianist and singer Don Shier led everyone in song, including It’s a Wonderful Life and Happy Birthday.

Happy 95th birthday, Lowell! Thank you for your decades of dedication to our profession and the legacy you continue to inspire.

One conversation can change a career. One connection can carry a legacy forward. 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined Minnesota PRSA on Sept. 28 for Making Connections: Honoring Margaret Ann Through Conversation.

On what would have been Margaret Ann Hennen’s birthday, communicators from across generations came together to do something she did so well: connect people.

We shared stories. We asked questions. We exchanged advice. We talked about leadership, ethics, career journeys and the importance of paying it forward.

Most importantly, we created new connections – and continued the legacy Margaret Ann built throughout her career through her generosity, mentorship and commitment to our profession.

We’re grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their wisdom and helped make the evening meaningful. And thanks to your participation, we also raised funds for the Minnesota PRSA Student Fund, helping create opportunities for the next generation of communicators.

Margaret Ann Hennen, APR, Fellow PRSA, as conveyed in the “official” presidential proclamation read in her honor, believed in the power of people investing in one another. What a wonderful way to honor her memory by continuing to do exactly that.

Congratulations to Amanda Theisen, APR for earning her Accreditation in Public Relations. The APR is the profession’s gold standard, demonstrating strategic expertise, ethical practice and a dedication to lifelong learning.

Amanda is the Communications Manager at Sunrise Banks, a Minnesota PRSA member and co-chair of the 2026 PRSA Midwest District conference. As part of the APR process, she completed an exam and panel presentation that focused on the launch of the Net Zero Banking program at Sunrise Banks. Congratulations, Amanda!

Margaret Ann Hennen, APR, Fellow PRSA, believed in the power of showing up for one another.

She showed up for new professionals finding their footing.
