George Broostin joined Guild in 1991, just a week after graduating, and quickly became part of a transformative chapter in the organization’s history. Early on, he helped lead the transition of 91 individuals from a residential facility into their own apartments — an approach that was seen as risky at the time.

Today, George continues to build relationships with donors, helping sustain the services that make these client stories possible. “We couldn’t do it without the donors. There’s a direct correlation between their support and our ability to provide services.”

It doesn't matter how old parents get; they want what's best for their kids, even when their kids become adults. And when an adult child is living with severe mental illness, parents sometimes need help. A donation to Guild supports people living with mental illness *and* the families who walk alongside them — including mothers like Anne. Give today! bit.ly/3QHjDA9

Health care is often much harder to access for people who are less financially stable. Mental health care in particular is even harder for folks living on a lower income to access, given differing insurance policies, a lack of resources in certain areas, and inaccessible out-of-pocket prices. Here’s why we think everyone should have affordable access to mental health care: bit.ly/4jnle7w

With the COVID pandemic and many other stressors increasing this year, mental health has become a larger part of the national conversation.

When Anne’s adult daughter Lynne was struggling with mental illness, Anne dreamed of finding care that treated Lynne as a whole person and not just a diagnosis. The family endured many cycles of hope and heartbreak looking for that kind of care … and then they found Guild.

A donation to Guild supports people living with mental illness AND the families who walk alongside them. We believe no family should have to face mental illness alone. Make a donation today! bit.ly/3QHjDA9

You probably hear people say things like “that’s crazy!" all the time. You may even find yourself using the word when you stumble across something ridiculous, strange, or silly.

But the word “crazy” has a complicated past and stigma attached to it, and using the word can be insulting to people living with a mental illness.

Read more over the Guild blog:

Like with other pieces of language our culture has decided to phase out lately, “crazy” has a complicated past and stigma attached to it.

Everyone has value. Everyone deserves support. We provide community-based mental health, housing, and employment services for people with serious and persistent mental illness. And we do this by meeting people where they are, providing the right help at the right time for as long as it's needed. Donate to support our lifesaving programs at guildservices.org/donate.
