Day 2 of ALAS brought our students out to Platte Valley Airpark in Lupton, Colorado, where they got hands-on with real aircraft for the first time.

They walked around Cessnas, learned how to conduct a proper preflight, explored aircraft systems, and gained a real understanding of what it actually takes to fly. Getting this close to the airplanes and talking through aerodynamics made the dream of becoming a pilot feel much more tangible.

A huge thank you to and .simply.aviation for hosting us and giving our students this experience.

Moments like these are why programs like ALAS matter.

Day 1 at ALAS camp delivered exactly what these students needed: real access.

They stood under a 777 engine on the ramp, toured the towers, climbed into a cockpit, and got an inside look at aircraft systems — all guided by United employees. Jonna McGrath, VP of United’s Denver hub, also spent time with the group talking through the many career paths at the airline.

Moments like these turn dreams into clear next steps.

Thank you, United Airlines, for showing up with time, tours, and leadership that made the day unforgettable.

One familia. Many journeys. Endless impact.

This Familia Friday, we are celebrating Liliana on an incredible milestone. She has officially become a Boeing 737 First Officer with United Airlines, based in Los Angeles. 🎉✈️

Many of you know Liliana as our Regional Chapter Chair, where she spends countless hours supporting chapters, volunteers, and members across the LPA network. She is always willing to step up, lend a hand, and help move our mission forward.

Today, we get to celebrate her!

The photo also features our President, Claudia Zapata Cardone, a United captain and fellow LPA leader. Together, they represent the power of mentorship, leadership, and service within our community.

Liliana’s journey is a reminder that some of the people working hardest behind the scenes are also chasing big goals of their own.
