Summer Series: the Ninja Run!🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

🌊Thank you for coming out and to everyone who joined this morning. It’s always a great day when you start with a run on the beach!

📆We are excited to see you all for our next Summer Series challenge next Tuesday, June 9th - the Brent Angyalfy Buoy Challenge! Meet at A Street for a 1 mile run to the Pier with multiple surf entries along the way.

Tuesday, June 2nd 7AM - Bill Fulton Ninja Run 🏃‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️

The Ninja Run is a 3.8 mile beach run from Crescent Beach Ramp to Fort Matanzas Ramp. This run is done in the early morning hours when the sun is just rising and the wind is nonexistent. Towards the final lengths of the run, the heat starts to sneak up on you like a ninja. Come out and join us, challenge yourself!🙌🏼🛟🌊

*Bring sneakers! Carpooling will be arranged to get participators back to their vehicles. Meet at Crescent Beach Ramp.

🌟This iconic run started in 2003 as a Zone 6 warm up run to start the day from what was then Tower 6 Alpha at Crescent Beach Ramp to 6 Delta at Fort Matanzas Ramp.

📰“The first two miles were easy but by the time you got to Sand Dollar Condos, the wind was blocked by the 5 and 6 story buildings. It felt like a ninja had jumped on your back for the last mile and a half. Teigh Collins, James Dickinson, and Matt Brown came up with the name and now it’s synonymous with Zone 6.” (- Josh Romaine)

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!🇺🇸🌊

Today is the first day of staffed lifeguard towers in St. John’s County! Lifeguard towers will be open along 42 miles of beaches in the county from Mickler’s Beach in Ponte Vedra to Matanzas Inlet in Crescent Beach. We are so excited for the summer season!

🛟Stay safe this holiday weekend🛟
• Swim near a lifeguard
• Always keep an eye on children near the water
• Check surf and rip current conditions before heading out
• Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen
• Never swim alone

The 2026 SUMMER SERIES is coming up! Tuesdays in June!🌟

As you all know, these Summer Series Events are a great way to practice surf lifesaving sport skills and also get a great workout in with us! Each event is named in honor of local legends who have contributed to life saving in our community. Those who compete in every event will receive special recognition at our end of year banquet.

6/2 - Bill Fulton Ninja Run - 3.8 mile run from Crescent Beach Ramp to Fort Matanzas Ramp
6/9 - Brent Angyalfy Buoy Challenge - Run from A Street to the pier with surf entries around each buoy placed along the route
6/16 - Bubba Williams Bridge to Bridge - Paddle on a craft of your choice from Beaches at Vilano to the Bridge of Lions, and back
6/23 - Sterling Kimery Escape Vilano - Paddle from the boat ramp to Beaches, run to Surfside Park, continue to Tower 2D, swim to the Jetty, then paddle through inlet back to the boat ramp
TBD - Andre VanEkeris Point to Point - Our longest and most challenging event traversing from inlet to inlet, with various swim/run/craft portions *Limited spots - must be approved by Board Members*

This past weekend, SJCMR Guards: Vaughn Blanchet, Clare Cassidy, and Gabe Nivens graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Flagler College! These guards have been dedicated to their studies and to keeping the beaches of St. Johns County safe. Keep up the good work and we can’t wait to see what you do next!🥳

ONE WEEK until this year’s Spring Fling hosted at Hornski’s on Sunday, May 17th from 2-5PM🍻‼️This is a free event with live raffles and a chance to support the St. Augustine Lifesaving Association! A portion of all food and drink sales will be donated to SALA. Mark your calendars, and we will see you there!!🌊

ANCIENT CITY SPRINT RECAP!🌊

First off, thank you to everyone who came out to support! We are so appreciative of all the volunteers, supporters, and competitors. This lifeguard community is amazing and we had an incredible day of racing!

The competition included these events: swim, paddle board, surf ski, 4x100, water entry relay, and beach flags.
