Thank you, City of St. Augustine - Government, for recognizing the St. Johns County Black Heritage Trail's recent Preservation award!

At Monday's Commission meeting, the City of St. Augustine recognized local individuals and preservation projects that have received statewide honors from the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Historic Preservation Division highlighted award recipients from the 2026 Florida Preservation and Board Awards, including Gordon "Gordie" J. Wilson, recipient of the President's Award, and Paul Weaver, recipient of the Individual Distinguished Service Award. Recognition was also given to several preservation projects throughout the city, including the DeMedici House at 155 Cordova Street, Zion Missionary Baptist Church, the St. Johns County Black Heritage Trail, 121 Kings Ferry Way, and the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center.

These awards celebrate the dedication of community leaders, property owners, preservation professionals, and volunteers who work to protect and preserve St. Augustine's historic and cultural resources. Their efforts help ensure that the stories, places, and heritage that define our nation's oldest city continue to be appreciated for generations to come.

Congratulations to all of the award recipients on this well-deserved statewide recognition.
