We invite you to attend a virtual panel hosted by the Joint Baltic American National Committee on Latvia’s priorities at the United Nations Security Council and its evolving role on the global stage.
In March 2025, Latvia was elected to the UN Security Council for the first time in its history. Its successful campaign emphasized three core priorities: (1) protecting the rules-based international order, (2) advancing the women, peace, and security agenda, and (3) addressing emerging threats, including climate security and the governance of artificial intelligence.
Latvia’s term comes at a time of significant geopolitical tension, including the continued Russian invasion of Ukraine, rising instability in the Middle East, and a shifting global order.
Join us for a timely discussion on Latvia’s Security Council membership and priorities, featuring Aivis Kļavinskis (Mission of Latvia to the UN), Kaspars Germanis (Centre for Geopolitical Studies, Riga), and Markuss Kozlinskis (Centre for East European Policy Studies).
