Yaritza could never afford a new bike but was able to get one through MiBici that was affordable. Her memory puts a new spin on the phrase -saving for a rainy day- “I remember the first time I rode my bicycle to school. I was so excited to use it that morning, even though it looked like it was going to rain. My mom told me it might be better to take the bus, but I really wanted to ride my new bicycle. Just as I was getting close to school, it started raining and I arrived completely soaked! It was not exactly how I imagined my first ride to school, but now it is a funny story I will always remember about my bicycle.”

We just picked up 60 bikes from the University of Maryland last week. When students leave their bikes behind UMD hold on to them in case they return for them and then eventually they donate them to us. UMD has donated 1,621 bikes over the years.
