Once a Girl Scout. Always a Girl Scout.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sarah Elizabeth Jackson Gregory, a devoted volunteer leader who gave 48 years of her life to the girls of the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Sarah led Troop 750 and Troop 980 of the Bermuda Heights Service Unit with the same quiet, steadfast dedication she brought to everything she touched. Whether she was teaching a skill, mentoring a young leader, or simply showing up, Sarah modeled what it means to live a life of service. Her commitment to young people was not a chapter of her story; it was the whole story.

Long before she wore the Girl Scout pin, Sarah was already giving back. She spent decades teaching upholstery to students of all ages, broke barriers as one of the first Black graduates of an integrated school in Chesterfield County, and volunteered with 4-H for over 40 years, earning induction into both the Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame and the National 4-H Hall of Fame. She served because it was simply who she was.

Sarah transitioned peacefully on May 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

We wrap our arms around her husband Ruffin, her daughters Selicia and Shawnda, her grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know her. Sarah will be forever a Girl Scout, and we are so grateful for the courage, confidence, and character she poured into every girl she served.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 12 noon at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

The Girls Scouts did what?! Troop 842 travelled to the Virginia Beach Aquarium and the Girl Scouts spotted a black footed ferret in the wild! Well, a statue actually😜!

They learned it is 🇺🇸North America's only native ferret species. Although they were thought to be extinct as of 1979, a farm dog in Wyoming discovered a surviving population in 1981.

What a beautiful day celebrating the girls of Troop 882! 💚

They proudly honored four Junior Girl Scouts who earned the Bronze Award through a year-long project focused on combating reading fatigue. Their work included creating a book club, building a Little Free Library, and hosting a community book drive to promote literacy and a love of reading.

They also celebrated their girls as they bridged to the next level of Girl Scouting, with two Cadettes participating in the meaningful Key Ceremony.

Surrounded by family, friends, and community supporters, it was a beautiful celebration of growth, leadership, service, and the bright futures ahead for these remarkable girls.
