In honor of our founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday on October 31, Troop 5059 brought some special gifts to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg! 🏥💛

On October 28, several of the girls delivered 5 baskets packed with baby essentials to the hospital’s volunteer team, one for each of the first 5 babies born on Juliette’s birthday. 👶 Each basket was filled with diapers, newborn clothes, bath items, linens, and more. 🧸🍼

The Mary Washington team was so grateful for the donation and thanked the girls for their kindness, generosity, and spirit of service. 💚

Welcome to the world, little ones, and thank you, Troop 5059, for carrying Juliette’s legacy forward! 🌟

Girl Scout Troop 882 and their families just held their very first Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at Dorey Park! 🎀

These girls went all in by designing signs, handing out informational literature, and walking laps to show their support for everyone touched by breast cancer. 👟

This is what taking action looks like. We’re so proud of you, Troop 882! 💪

“Pond to Plate” was a huge success last Sunday, as 22 fish were caught, cleaned, and cooked from the Pamunkey Ridge Camp Pond. Department of Wildlife Resources volunteers, Jamie and Jeff, along with Boy Scout leaders and their Boy Scouts helped the Girl Scouts with thinning the schools of fish to provide a better ecosystem and to improve the over-population by removing some of the top predators.

As part of the Boy Scout’s wildlife management and fishing merit badges requirements is to provide community service to others, so the local Troop 521 provided help with cleaning and cooking the fish appetizers for our hot dog luncheon.

We will be back in the spring to continue what we started to help improve the overall health of the Pond’s inhabitants. Look for more information soon on this Pop-up program!

Last Saturday, Girl Scouts from all over Virginia descended upon the MCV campus to hear from the VCU Women in Science group! From Forensics and Dentistry to Kinesiology and Genetics, the girls rotated through stations to learn about polymers, fingerprints, and healthy processes for their bodies! After a pizza lunch they received their custom-designed patch. What a wonderful way to spend the day discovering and connecting!

Last Friday, Girl Scouts from all over our Council came together to celebrate Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthday a bit early. (Her birthday is actually on 10/31.) Learning about our founder’s life in Savannah and how she started Girl Scouts started us off for the night together!

A pearl SWAP, two crafts, cupcake decorating, campfire safety, and a chat with Juliette herself (actually Ms. Sue) were the fun filled events of the evening. We capped it off with the 1911 Campfire ashes Ceremony thanks to Ms. Judy. (A fun patch and campfire ashes will be delivered to all girls soon.)
