On this day in 1865, the final enforcement of freedom reached Galveston, Texas - marking what we now celebrate as Juneteenth, or Black Independence Day. Today, we honor this powerful moment in history, celebrate Black freedom and resilience, and reaffirm our commitment to building a more just and hopeful future together. 💚

Big dreams do come true! 💚 Last night we attended the Alumni Hall of Fame Ceremony honoring leaders whose accomplishments show the long-term impact of mentorship. This year’s Alumni Hall of Fame inductees included:

⭐Arlen “GRIFF” Griffin — comedian, on-air personality, philanthropist and author, Alumni Little

⭐Arthur M. Blank — owner and chairman Blank Family of Businesses, Alumni Big

⭐Jericka Duncan — national correspondent and anchor, CBS Weekend News, Alumni Big

⭐Jihaad Campbell — NFL linebacker, Philadelphia Eagles, Alumni Big

⭐Megan Colligan — entertainment executive, Alumni Big

⭐Mike Carrel — BBBSA board chair and president & CEO, AtriCure, Inc., Alumni Big

At the ceremony, we heard how mentorship can make a lasting effect as their stories shared the different ways mentorship can influence confidence, careers, choices, and the desire to give back. We’re grateful for more great takeaways from this year’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference!

Bigger together! ✨ Today at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference, we heard inspiring messages on connection and the impact we can make when communities unite from Artis Stevens, President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, and Kathy Waller, Executive Director of the Atlanta Committee for Progress.

Meaningful change happens when people choose to work together. Hearing how civic leaders and community partners are creating opportunities through the Atlanta Committee for Progress left us energized and reminded us that mentorship truly takes a village. 💚

And BIG bonus: we also got to celebrate the Mayor’s birthday today! 🎉
