The greenhouse bountiful harvest is here! For now it’s tomatoes and green papers in plenty for the children at Hope Schools to enjoy. We are grateful to friends whose generosity made this project a reality, aiming to improve the nutrition of our little ones. Thank you 🙏.

The children along with the agriculture teachers take good care of the greenhouse garden and now are enjoying the fruits of their labor. The project also provides a practical teaching opportunity about modern farming. It was timely because despite the blazing heat from the extended drought, these plants did very fine as you can see … because there were in a controlled environment relying on a small drip irrigation system.

A water crisis! The drought was almost finishing us! The wells dried up and are facing a water crisis at the Hope Schools and surrounding village communities. This well also serves the local community and all the water was gone.

We are trying to excavate to make wider and deeper so it can retain more water to last a little longer during the dry season. THANK YOU friends who have made this work possible; we appreciate the gift of water = life!

We have an underground well but can’t up with the water demand for over 950 children in addition to teachers and staff. This surface well provides a backup system for water used for laundry, showers, and cleaning. Now that schools are open for the third trimester, we have to buy water until there is enough rain to fill up this well and pump it up to the school again.

In some regions of Uganda, crops such as coffee and banana plantations have been severely affected. Even wildlife in danger as the grass in some national parks has dried.

The rain season has started but still slow. Please keep us in your prayers.

A beautiful celebration of Saint Benedict’s Day on July 11th and the MDD (music, dance, and drama) competitions for high school students at Hope Schools Uganda… a show of great talent and teamwork. It was an exciting day and we had a great time.

The daily commute to and from school, many of the children walking several miles to get home… determined to get an education at any cost. It was an enjoyable experience journeying with the little ones through the villages.

Marking a new chapter at Hope Schools Uganda as the girls move into their beautiful new dormitory, to house about 186 boarding students at the high school level.

This dormitory is more than a building—it is a place of opportunity, dignity, and hope. It contains inviting spaces for study and relaxation, both on the interior and the balconies.

Many THANKS to friends who contributed to Haruna’s medical appeal to get him to a hospital for evaluation. He was admitted at the orthopedic hospital last Tuesday. They have done tests and scans revealing cancer cells in the lymph nodes and the Doctors have recommend emergency amputation (and be hospitalized for about two weeks), after which will he will referred to the cancer institute to determine whether chemotherapy or radiotherapy is to follow.

The estimated cost for the procedure is roughly $1900 and we have $200 so far. As for meals and hospital related expenses, we have some funds from the previous contributions left after paying for tests and scans.
