The Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC) core priorities or issues areas:

- Eradicating Antisemitism and all forms of racism
- Supporting a strong, democratic, and peaceful Israel, as the homeland and nation-state of the Jewish people
- Spreading awareness of the lessons of the Holocaust
- Promoting religious freedom and the separation of church and state

Together we explored the influence of foreign funding on American universities, its impact on conversations surrounding Israel, and recognizing and confronting antisemitism. Three years after the horrors of October 7, 2023, we remember the innocent lives that were taken, the hostages torn from their homes, and the communities left in ashes. And we continue to stand with the people of Israel as they rebuild their homes, replant their fields, and welcome their people home.

The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond was shocked and saddened by the shooting on Saturday at Virginia State University. We stand with the VSU community and the larger Black community in our support and prayers for the injured. We are also encouraged that justice will be served after the arrest of a suspect on Sunday.

Yesterday, the US House of Representatives rejected an amendment to the 2027 National Security funding bill which would have eliminated US security assistance to Israel and undermine the security interests of the United States. The JCRC would like to express our sincere thanks to each of the Representatives from our region who voted in opposition to that amendment:

Anti-Jewish incidents remain at historic levels, including here in Richmond and Central Virginia, while security costs for synagogues, schools, and Jewish institutions continue to skyrocket. Yesterday 400+ Jewish leaders from across the country went to Capitol Hill to advocate for increased security funding and stronger protections for Jewish communities and houses of worship. Thank you to Senator Mark Warner, Senator Tim Kaine, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, Congressman John McGuire, Congressman Eugene Vindman, and Congressman Bob Wittman for taking the time to meet with us and listen to our concerns.
