BGR! NATION, WE NEED YOU!
Our girl Alisha Brown is proof that a diagnosis does NOT get to decide the size of your dreams.
At 35, Alisha was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She was told she might not be able to sustain the level of activity she had before her diagnosis. Instead, she found running—and turned one 5K into a marathon journey that has taken her to the start lines of some of the biggest races in the world.
Now, she’s setting her sights on Chicago.
And here’s the part that makes us especially proud: Alisha is running Chicago while fundraising for Black Girls RUN!
This is what community looks like.
This is what it means to run beyond limits.
This is what happens when you decide that your diagnosis, your circumstances, or someone else’s expectations don't get the final say in what you can accomplish.
BGR! NATION — LET’S SHOW ALISHA WHAT COMMUNITY CAN DO!
Whether you donate, share her story, send her some encouragement, or simply follow along on her journey, let’s get behind her as she chases that Chicago PR and raises money to support the mission of Black Girls RUN!
Because when one of us runs, WE ALL RUN.
When she steps onto that Chicago course, we want her to feel BGR! Nation behind every mile.
