We are happy to report that we are some of the most recent recipients of the VCU Health Hub seed grant to bring our program Threads of Resilience- Fashion Design for Mental Health and Wellness to residents of the East End. More to come on that soon, but in the meantime, go check out this awesome free yoga class they have for our peers in recovery...or ANYONE for that matter!

There is going to be a group of fiber art makers coming together on Saturday June 13th for an open craft, pop-up shop, and workshop event in the Fan with Fiber Collective.

Open crafting is free for all ~ come out and connect with other fiber artists at the pop-up!

Also during event hours there are drop-in workshops with four instructors where we guide you through making a project or are available to help you with your own project.

We picked up some great books on recovery for free at LaPrade Library - Chesterfield County Public Library and learned about their awesome program called "Read to Recovery" where they have a whole shelf full of new books on recovery for free!!

This past Friday we had our wonderful attendees collage together images and words to create meaningful messages they wanted to spread as a functional piece of art on an acoustic diffusion panel. We called it a "Spread The Word Poetry Remix" as some of the materials were poetry books donated to us that were saved from a recent fire. Along with vintage magazines and stationery. We were BLOWN AWAY by the weight and depth of what was shared. We had an open mic where they could share, and or read some passages that meant something to them. This is what Creative Recovery Virginia is all about. Using all the creative arts as a way to cope in a healthy way and connect with community rather than maladaptive coping in isolation. Thank you to all who participated ❤️

We were blown away by your messages and artistic contributions to our functional community art project at the "Spread The Word- Poetry Remix" this past Friday!at during the exhibit with ! Your contributions were both fun and thought provoking to say the least. The poetry read on the open mic was just incredible and the conversation was so engaging. Thank you for being with us as we stepped out of our comfort zone and into the world of poetry as a tool for coping and growing together.

Our wood mosaic + leather and metal stamping workshop at VMFA turned out great! Our peers really seemed to like the metal and leather stamping!

Someone said the Richmond recovery community was "stale" and needed something like our organization but there ARE awesome things happening in RVA like Riffs and Recovery that meets at Gallery 5! This kinda stuff gets em excited and motivated to keep up the work we do! ❤️
