The 2026 Pride Poll from GLAAD shows what many of us already know: attacks on transgender issues are a distraction from real issues we’re all facing.

Research by MRI-Simmons revealed 65% of registered voters believe politicians are often using transgender issues to distract from more important priorities. Meanwhile, 44% say their top concern is rising costs and inflation. And 74% say they’re more likely to support a midterm candidate who says we all deserve the freedom to live our lives without fear of discrimination.

Trans people are our neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and family. They deserve to be treated with dignity, not used as a political talking point.

Voters want leaders who focus on the issues that affect their daily lives. Equality Virginia will keep standing with trans Virginians and fighting for a Commonwealth where everyone can thrive.

October is LGBTQ+ History Month.

This month (and every month) we recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ people whose courage paved the way for the work we do today.
