Hawk Fire: Today I talked with one of the families we helped with evacuation expenses. Their home has severe smoke damage, which means more days in a hotel while they clean every inch of the space.

While many families are going home after the fire, for some the hard part is just starting.

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE NUGGET! We've been hearing good things about the Nugget's support of evacuees. Low rates, allowing pets, no resort fees.

While we're hearing of some places taking advantage of evacuees, we've been so grateful to hear great things about the Nugget and how it's actually showing up.

To our Northern Nevada community: If you or someone you know has been impacted by the Hawk Fire, we want to help provide a safe place to rest.

PLEASE NOTE: We are completely sold out tonight (Saturday), but we are sharing this now so you can secure a room for tomorrow if needed.

We are offering a $49/night rate with NO resort fees for stays starting tomorrow, Sunday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 25.

- Must present a valid ID showing an address from the impacted area at check-in.

You all are the most incredibly amazing people. We've got community members setting up the shelter, others helping coordinate and get diapers and other necessities, someone from our neighborhood feral colony cat chat is delivering cat supplies. If you could see even for a minute all the people asking for help and providing it - this incredible web of support - you would be in absolute awe of what our community is. In this incredibly dark moment, people in Reno are showing up for each other in the most amazing ways.

I need food for an autistic child who had to evacuate: "Needs bananas and the capri suns that are water. Likes to eat chips (salt and vinegar or bbq) and the Annie's fruit gummies and cracker lunchables." Can anyone help? Deliver to a hotel in Sparks late tonight or tomorrow.

Shelter for people who are autistic etc: The Bridge Church, 1330 Foster Drive. It opened at 11am. I hear that they do have diapers etc.

If requested help from the nonprofit, I am making calls right now. I have a list. Thank you for your patience. I know this is hard and I know you're stressed.

If people know of other other resources for diapers, food, gas, etc please let me know. If you can help provide these please let me know. People often left with nothing, sometimes they weren't even at home when the evacuation order came and they don't have anything with them. Parents didn't sleep, kids are melting down.

Help people impacted by the Hawk Fire. It's 4:00 a.m. and we are working on helping families with autistic kids and adults with disabilities cover evacuation costs - the money they spent on motels that they needed for rent and electricity.

As the sun rises, we'll start to get updates on lost homes. We don't have any idea where we're at with that right now.
