💔 Our hearts are broken for a family in LaSalle, Quebec, after a 3-year-old girl lost her life when a bouncy castle was swept into the air during a windstorm. Eleven others were also injured.

This is every parent’s nightmare—and another devastating reminder that inflatable accidents are not rare, unpredictable events. Wind-related bounce house incidents have claimed lives and caused hundreds of injuries across North America.

A bounce house should never become airborne. Proper anchoring, trained operators, continuous weather monitoring, and clear safety regulations save lives.

At the Lizzy Hammond Foundation, we continue to advocate for stronger inflatable safety standards because no family should have to endure this kind of loss.

Today, we mourn with this family and honor the life of a little girl who should still be here.

Another heartbreaking reminder that inflatable safety is not optional. A 7-year-old boy has tragically died and several other children were injured after a bounce house was lifted into the air by the wind and struck a fence. Our hearts are with every family affected by this unimaginable tragedy. 💔

Wind-related inflatable accidents happen faster than most people realize — even on days that may not seem dangerous. Proper anchoring, weather monitoring, supervision, and immediate evacuation when conditions change can save lives.

This is exactly why we continue to advocate for stronger safety awareness and why Lizzy Hammond Foundation fought so hard for Lizzy’s Law. Every child deserves safe play.

🚨 Bounce House Safety Is Not Optional 🚨

A 2025 InvestigateTV highlights what many of us in safety advocacy already know—these incidents are preventable.

📊 Between 2000–2021:
• 132 wind-related bounce house incidents
• 479 injuries
• 28 lives lost

Let that sink in.

Wind is one of the leading causes of catastrophic failures—yet too often inflatables are not properly anchored, monitored, or shut down when conditions change.

This is exactly why stronger safety standards matter.
✔ Proper anchoring (minimum weight requirements)
✔ Strict wind limits
✔ Active adult supervision at all times

These aren’t suggestions—they’re lifesaving measures.

Parents condemn 'unsafe' Activity Zone Malmesbury play equipment

Stories like this are difficult to read—but they highlight a risk many families don’t realize exists.

Recently, parents in the U.K. reported that inflatable play equipment collapsed on children during a birthday party, leaving adults scrambling to lift the rapidly deflating structure so kids could get out. Several children were trapped underneath before parents were able to free them.

When inflatables deflate unexpectedly, they can become extremely heavy, creating a serious suffocation risk for children inside. Situations like this also raise important questions about proper supervision, trained operators, and safety procedures.

At the Lizzy Hammond Foundation, this is exactly why we continue to advocate for stronger safety standards and education around inflatable play equipment. Laws like Lizzy’s Law in Nevada were created to help ensure operators follow clear safety guidelines—including proper setup, monitoring, and responsible supervision.

Bounce houses can be fun—but they must be operated safely and responsibly.

Our hearts go out to the families involved, and we hope stories like this encourage more awareness, better training, and stronger safety standards everywhere.

💙 In honor of Lizzy, and every child who deserves a safe place to play.
