Volunteer Build Help Needed — Waldport, OR 💙🧡
Sunday, September 13

Meet Finn and Sawyer — two big, lovable Fidos who are very ready for a safe place to play.

Finn is a gentle giant and Sawyer is his loyal partner in “crime.” Their favorite hobby? Digging under or breaking through their old, dilapidated wood fence so they can head into the neighborhood and say “hi!” to everyone.

Finn may look intimidating because of his size, but he is truly just a goofy sweetheart who wants to be friends. Unfortunately, when large dogs get loose, even friendly ones can cause concern, and animal services have been called multiple times.

Their guardian is a hardworking single mom of three who has done everything she can to keep them safely contained — patching the fence with whatever materials she can find and even letting the blackberries grow wild in hopes the thorns might slow Finn down.

News flash: they did not.

So the Fido Team is heading to Waldport on Sunday, September 13 to build Finn and Sawyer a secure backyard where they can run, play, and stay safely home with the family who loves them.

Please join us for this build and help give these two big lovebugs the safe freedom they deserve. 💙🧡

Once a month, Fences For Fido Volunteers show up for Big Build Days on the Warm Springs Reservation, and they come from all over Oregon to do it. 💙🧡

These days are never just “a few fence builds.” Instead, they are full days of listening, problem-solving, repairing, building a new fence, delivering, checking in, helping with rehoming and responding to whatever is needed most.

Big Build Days are big because the need is big, and because our volunteers show up with open hearts, willing hands, and a deep belief that every dog deserves safety.

Take young Blaze, for example - his family had moved from a home with a fenced yard to a place without one. Without a safe space, Blaze had to be tied up 24 hours a day, with only his doghouse for shelter. Now, because Fido Volunteers showed up, Blaze has what every dog deserves: room to move, space to breathe, and the safety of a fence.

That is what these days are about.

Not just building fences — but meeting families where they are, helping dogs where they need us most, and creating safe freedom one Fido at a time. 💙

Yesterday was such a good day! Instead of our usual wellness clinic at the fire station, we spent the day at two neighborhood locations—Greely Heights and the Trailer Park area—making it a little easier for families who might not hear about our clinics or don't have transportation to the fire station to get their pets the care they need.

And oh my goodness, there were some very cute faces. 😊 Lots of little dogs and young dogs yesterday!

Together with our friends at Companion Animal Medical Project- CAMP, Cierra Buer DVM, made possible through BISSELL Pet Foundation & Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation Wellness Days, we were able to provide no-cost wellness care and vaccinations for 28 pets, and each went home with a year’s worth of flea and tick prevention. We were also able to send families home with pet food, thanks to a donation from CAMP.

And then there were nine little puppies who needed us to say yes. Families arrived with puppies and asked if we could help find them loving homes. Together we said yes—and committed to making sure their mamas get spayed, too.

Thankfully, Brightside Animal Center quickly said yes to all nine puppies and and made room for them within a few short hours.

We're so grateful to CAMP Clinics, Dr. Cierra Buer, BrightSide Animal Center, BISSELL Pet Foundation, our volunteers, and our Warm Springs partners for making this day possible—and to all the families who welcomed us and trusted us with their pets. 🐾

Another day that mattered. 💜

Special thanks to Johannah JW for capturing so many of the sweet moments and faces.

Big-hearted giving just became easier. 💙🧡
Do you have stock? Mutual funds? Cryptocurrency? Thinking about a donor-advised fund, IRA gift, or another way to make your generosity go a little farther?
Fences For Fido can now accept a wider variety of gifts through 'Every', making it easier to turn your generosity into wagging tails, safe yards, cozy dog houses, full food bowls, and families kept together.
For some donors, giving appreciated assets may also be a tax-smart way to support the work they already love — helping dogs come off chains and into safer, healthier lives.
'Every' helps guide donors through a secure, streamlined process, and 100% of your donation goes toward our mission.
The legacy you leave with Fences For Fido is measured in zoomies, peaceful naps in a warm dog house, and the simple joy of a dog finally running free.

A safer yard. A calmer home.

When Monster's family reached out, things had become stressful and overwhelming. Monster was getting loose with a nearby highway steps away, animal control had been called more than once, and the family was facing possible fines. Monster spent long hours tethered outside, without proper shelter.

So, the Fido Team got to work.

Now Monster has a secure space where he can move, rest, and play. No more daily worry about Monster getting loose. No more relying on chains as the only option. No more feeling like the situation is one step away from becoming a crisis. This is what safe freedom can look like for a whole family - dogs included.Thank you to the Fido Team for showing up with patience, muscle, and heart to help Monster begin a safer chapter.

One of the sweetest parts of our Gala was simply looking around the room and seeing so many familiar faces and new friends gathered together for Fences For Fido. 🐾

It meant so much to spend the evening surrounded by people who care so deeply about dogs, families, and the kind of safe freedom every dog deserves. There was so much warmth, joy, and connection in the room, and we are still carrying that with us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, visited, mingled, laughed, and helped make the night feel so special. We loved sharing the evening with you and are so grateful for this caring community.

Meet Kevin: blue-eyed, goofy, handsome, and basically a big hunk of love. 💙🐾

Kevin was one of our beloved Fidos and a very special guest at our recent gala, where he charmed everyone with his sweet spirit and lovable personality. He spent the whole evening making friends, soaking up the love, and then stole the show when he joined us on stage. He truly was the darling of the evening. ❤️

When circumstances changed for Kevin’s family, Fences For Fido stayed by his side and helped make sure he got the care and support he needed. We’re so grateful that our new friends at Pasado's Safe Haven answered our lifeline for Kevin and welcomed him into their care.

Now Kevin is ready for his next chapter—and we would love to help him find the home he deserves.

Kevin is beautiful, silly, affectionate, and ready to be loved. If you’ve been waiting for a big, blue-eyed best friend with a goofy heart, Kevin may be your guy. 💙

Please share to help Kevin find his forever home. More information about Kevin and the adoption process can be found through Pasado’s Safe Haven.

Our hearts are still so full from Sunday night’s Gala. 🐾✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special. It was such a joy to see so many wonderful kindred spirits gathered together in support of Fences For Fido and the dogs and families we serve.

We are also deeply grateful to those who couldn’t be there in person but still gave from afar. Your generosity means so much and helps make safe freedom possible for more dogs.

It was a beautiful night, and we’re still soaking it all in. Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing more special moments and photos from the event — but for now, thank you for showing up, cheering us on, and being part of this caring community. We are so grateful. 🧡🩵
