It's Friday and newsletter day - so here's a wrap up of what will be in your inbox soon:
1. Fairgrounds Race is this weekend! Come find the MTC Sunday at a table, check out some neat tattoos, pick up a magnet, and learn more about the MTC. Registration is still open for this lovely 5K that finishes on the horse track - and the MILE Race!
2. Registration is official open for the Maine Track Club Turkey Trot 5K! (shirt deadline will be end of October)
3. The Farm to Farm Ultra Run is on the horizon! Run! Volunteer! Do both!?
4. The Maine Marathon is Oct 4 - registration is still open, but there is a cap, so if you're delaying signing up - this is your sign to take the plunge
5. The next MTC social will be September 16 at Shaw Cherry Hill - run or walk on the beautiful trails, and join us for a delicious spread! (This replaces the boat cruise from the past few years)

Who's ready for the Peaks Island Road Race on July 26? Registration is still open, and we need volunteers - https://runsignup.com/Race/Volunteer/ME/PeaksIsland/PeaksIslandRoadRace Reminder that volunteers get a free ferry ticket :)

The Peaks Island Road Race is on Saturday July 25, 2026. It includes the following events: 5 Mile Race, Kids' Run, and Virtual 5 Miles.

We pause in our celebrations of the Boston runners to remember George Towle, who passed away last night.

George was a longtime MTC member, race director for the (Maine Running Hall of Fame inducted) Thanksgiving 4 Miler, coach at USM, and friend to many. His kindness, straightforwardness, and willingness to meet at GLB will always be remembered. He hid from photos, but we managed this one from November 2025. Please, share any photos you have of George below. We'll share details of services as soon as we know them.
