We make music a force for nature. Our nonprofit harnesses music to generate fans for the environment.

We have two major project areas: Songscapes and Trail Sessions. SONGSCAPES
Songscapes create direct partnerships between land agencies and musicians. Through the hospitality of host environmental organizations, artists are immersed in the beauty and history of protected lands. Bands use this retreat time to create a song inspired by the land and their experiences. The song is then donated to the host organization and used to inspire and encourage others to value these landscapes. TRAIL SESSIONS
We pair outdoor concerts with guided hikes at public lands. Currently happening in Colorado and expanding to additional states soon. Trail Sessions introduce people to their public lands and excellent music!

Concert + Hike Alert!
This Trail Session will highlight the beautiful grounds and historical sights at the Nathan Lester House and Farm Tool Museum, managed by a partnership between the Ledyard Historical Society and the Ledyard Historic District Commission. Folk/Soul/R&B artist Kimaya Diggs will perform following the guided hike. Diggs was nominated in the "Best New Artist" and "Album of the Year" categories at the 2023 New England Music Awards and was recently honored as one of 10 artists of color making a difference in the Boston area by WBUR. She has opened for the likes of Trombone Shorty, Lizzie No, Tank and The Bangas, and has toured with Heather Maloney. The Boston Globe calls her “Expressive, smooth vocals…she’s kind of an unstoppable force.”

What a lovely Trail Session last month with performing his landscape inspired music, alongside land, waters and history preserved by in Mansfield, CT. Over 45 people attended, most of whom had never been to this park before! Glad music got them out to a beautiful place ❤️🌱🎹

We talked music and nature at the United Nations COP30 climate negotiations in Brazil. Happy to be part of a panel on Creative Engagement Strategies with the UConn Office of Sustainability!

Our Co-Founder, Betsy Mortensen, is headed to to talk music x nature at their Sustainability Summit on October 9! Looking forward to meeting people in the music and manufacturing space who are pushing the industry towards a sustainable future.

Sustain's Co-Founders will be plenary speakers at California's 30x30 Partnership Summit in San Diego! The event gathers conservation colleagues who are working to conserve 30% of California by 2030. We're so excited to share how we use art to deepen people's emotional bonds to the natural world.
