SE Uplift has teamed up with the other three District Coalition Offices to present a nonpartisan community webinar about Portland Measure 26-267, featuring speakers from both the “For” (Your Two Cents Portland) and “Against” (Protect Our City Services) campaigns.

If passed, the measure would authorize City Council to establish a program allowing residents to help decide how to spend an amount equal to at least 2% of the City’s General Fund budget.

Join us to learn:
– What City Council would be required to include in the ordinance establishing the program
– How residents would help decide what gets funded
– Where participatory budgeting is already being used in other U.S. cities

Have an idea for a project that could bring people together, strengthen community connections, or increase civic engagement in District 3? SE Uplift Community Small Grants offer up to $3,000 to help make it happen. 

Past grants have supported community events, arts and cultural projects, placemaking, youth programs, leadership development, and more.    

Applications are due Sunday, October 18, at 11:59 PM.

🔔 Reminder! SE Uplift is now accepting proposals for its 2027 Community Small Grants through Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

That means you still have two full weekends to shape your idea and application. But don’t delay! You don’t want to spend these beautiful October days inside at your 💻.

We want to make the process as approachable, efficient, and even fun as possible. Bring your questions, sticking points, or whatever is blocking you to our drop-in assistance workshop and we’ll help you work through it.

Join the Grants Review Committee!

👉 Learn more and apply at seuplift.org/grants by Sunday, October 18, at 11:59 PM.

As a committee member, you would help decide which community-led projects receive 2027 Community Small Grants. You would review and score applications, discuss them with other committee members, and recommend projects for funding to the SE Uplift board.

To participate, you must be available for an online orientation on October 26 from 7 to 8:30 PM, set aside up to 8 hours to review applications between October 27 and November 13, and join the final review meeting on November 16 from 7 to 9 PM. You cannot be affiliated with a current grant applicant.

This is a volunteer position with a $50 stipend.

Mourning the end of summer? Don’t despair—join us on the sunnyside, where there’s a 0% chance of rain on Saturday, September 26🤞😅

This Saturday, we’re closing down the street outside of our HQ in the Sunnyside neighborhood (see what we did there ⬆️) for a block-party-style election education event.

Candidates for City Council District 3 will have booths where you can meet them one-on-one, and make remarks to the crowd starting at 2:30 pm.

The rest of the time will be filled with fun, family-friendly activities like button making and yard games.

And, speaking of yards… There will be a neighborhood-wide yard sale going on from 9am to 3pm on Saturday. Visit the link in bio Sunnyside Neighborhood Association for a sale map.

Come meet the candidates running for the three open District 3 seats on Portland City Council in the November 3 election.

We’re closing down the street and opening our Outdoor Plaza for a free, family-friendly mixer. The candidate program begins at 2:30 PM, when each candidate will have an opportunity to make brief remarks, but most of the afternoon will follow an open format with plenty of time for one-on-one conversations. Many candidates will have booths, alongside local nonprofits, agencies, and community organizations.

Community Small Grants Are Open!

SE Uplift is accepting applications for 2027 Community Small Grants. Grants of up to $3,000 are available for community-led projects that take place in District 3.

Projects can include neighborhood events, placemaking, mutual aid, arts projects, community conversations, and other efforts that bring people together and strengthen civic engagement in Portland City Council District 3.
