Hi everyone! Trying to crowdsource some information about an upcoming discussion about the Laurelhurst Village buildings. We saw this flyer up, but there’s no info about who is sponsoring it! Here’s hoping the dangerous eyesore at 30th and Stark can become a neighborhood asset instead of a hulking husk.

Family-friendly event about living safely with coyotes in Portland!

Many neighborhoods are seeing increased coyote activity, and residents often have questions about protecting pets and what to do during encounters. Coyote-palooza is designed to offer clear, practical guidance and educate community members about how our coyote neighbors support shared ecosystems.

Our Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13th @ 7 PM at SE Uplift and on Zoom.

We will be electing 5 members of the board of directors to serve 2 year terms. Nominations will be taken at the meeting. If you are interested in working with a great group of neighbors to help shape the future of Sunnyside, plan and host great events, and really get to understand how your city works, this is the opportunity for you! If you would like to learn more about serving your community on the SNA Board, please reach out to me at [email protected]. I’d love to tell you how being a board member has enriched my life with new friends, a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that I am doing what I can to help this place I love.

We will also be voting on some bylaw updates. These are mostly technical updates to our governing charter. Most importantly is an update to our board elections process to allow those of you attending on Zoom to vote for your neighborhood association leadership.

This is always a fun meeting where we get to celebrate the SNA’s work over the last year and look forward to the next. Light refreshments will be provided.

See you there!

You're a 90s college student. You go to the local library to check out Siddhartha for your Literature class. You can't do the assignment if you don't get the book.

Keep everything the same, but now, you're a current day homeowner going to the local TOOL library. And instead of a book, you're checking out a ladder for a roofing project. It literally works the same way.

The Southeast Portland Tool Library (SEPTL) has been operating since 2010. Over 90% of the tools are donated, and the majority of the non-profit's income comes from donations. It's run by a team of volunteers whose common interest is building things.

There are seven tool libraries spread across Portland, providing neighbors with free access to hundreds of tools for gardening, yardwork, and home improvement.

The tool library network is a testament to how commonly the neighborhoods of Portland come together with the intention to help.

Like a library, it's run on a system of trust, generosity, and goodwill. Just another example of community camaraderie in Portland.

The Sunnyside Environmental School Spring Gala is this Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Revolution Hall's Show Bar!

This year, they’re rewinding to an iconic day of the school year — School Picture Day — and giving it the full gala glow-up. Channel your childhood photo-day energy and remix a throwback from your own school portrait era!

In the midst of swapping lore about outfits, the event will be raising critical funds for the SES programs we know and love, including funding their garden, music, and field study programs for all SES students K-8.

Join your neighbors for a free showing of "No Place To Grow Old," a documentary that dives into the growing crisis of senior homelessness through stories set right here in Portland.

American adults are aging into homelessness at unprecedented rates. Older adults (55+) are the fastest growing population entering homelessness across the country. Their numbers are on pace to triple by 2030.

Following the 48-minute video, a panel of local experts from NW Pilot Project, PSU, REACH, and more will lead a dialogue about the film and the subject of senior homelessness.

Additionally, there will be a food drive where you’re invited to bring shelf-stable food to this event to share with our neighbors who are seniors living below the poverty line.

This event is co-hosted by the Mount Tabor Neighborhood Association and Tabor Heights United Methodist Church.

DATE: Thursday, April 2, 2026
TIME: 6:30-8pm
PLACE: Tabor Heights United Methodist Church, 6161 SE Stark St., Portland, OR 97215

This event is free and open to the public.

Our Land Use and Transportation Committee meets this Wednesday, March 18th in the Garden Room of SEUplift at 7pm.

We will be discussing safety improvement around Sunnyside Environmental School, such as more 4-way stops and the potential conversion of SE Salmon in front of the school as a local access only street. We'll also discuss outreach strategy to PBOT so that our advocacy turns into realized change.

If you're unable to attend in person, join online via our Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84005101760
