The Senate could vote as early as TOMORROW on Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block over $450 million worth of bombs and bulldozers to Israel.

Right now, the Israeli military is flattening southern Lebanon, ethnically cleansing Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and accelerating its genocide in Gaza. And while there is a shaky ceasefire with Iran, thousands of Iranians have been killed in US-Israeli airstrikes as part of an illegal and immoral war. The US-Israel war machine is threatening the lives of millions of people across Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine and it is long past time for us to stop arming Israel.

Act now before the Senate vote. jvp.org/senatevote

Senator Wyden has a chance to vote YES on blocking bombs and bulldozers to the Israeli government. 4 Joint Resolutions of Disapproval are on the table right now. We need him to vote yes on all of them. We are Oregonians writing from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and many other traditions, and as people of good will who are done watching our tax dollars fund atrocities. The US-Israel attacks on Iran, the ongoing assault on Gaza, the bombing of Lebanon. Enough.

Nearly 100 anti-Zionist Jews and allies gathered with us on April 5 for our Liberation Seder

Together, we told a story our ancestors, and their ancestors before them, have told for  generations. We also recognized that the stories we inherit contain multitudes. We challenged ourselves to wrestle with the contradictions within this particular story and ask: what does it mean to know oppression intimately, while also being capable of perpetuating it onto others?

At a time when organizing can feel urgent, exhausting, and relentless, it was powerful to gather with both new and familiar faces and remember that connection is part of the work. There was something deeply grounding about being together, sharing food, reflection, grief, joy, and hope.

It would have been enough simply to know that we continue to show up for one another, continue planting seeds of Judaism beyond Zionism, and continue building toward a free Palestine.

We also turned our values into material support: we raised $2,305.42, with $1,416.71 going directly to and $888.71 going to

ACT NOW: Tell PSU President Ann Cudd and the Board of Trustees that Brandeis University’s initiative on antisemitism is a chilling assault on free speech that makes all of us less safe.

Portland State University is hosting speakers from Brandeis on March 11–12 who have made racist statements, including claiming that Muslim nations “fail to follow Western definitions of human rights,” while saying nothing about Israel’s assault on civilians in Gaza.

At the same time, the university has expanded its definition of antisemitism to include talking about documented human rights abuses such as apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. It has also punished calls for Palestinian freedom and ordered a Palestinian student group on campus to disband.

Portland State University is hosting a leadership institute run by the Brandeis University President’s Initiative on Antisemitism, an initiative that repeatedly blurs the line between antisemitism and Palestinian solidarity.
At Brandeis, student organizing for Palestinian freedom is branded as hate speech. Protest language is wrongly labeled antisemitic. Student groups have lost recognition.
When criticism of a nation-state is treated as hatred of Jews, everyone loses, including:
Jewish students who dissent from Israeli government policy
Palestinian students advocating for their own freedom
The integrity of academic freedom itself
Antisemitism is real and rising. It must be confronted with precision, not by stretching the definition so that it chills speech and weakens the fight against actual hate.
As Jews, students, faculty, and Portland community members, we are calling on PSU to uphold academic freedom and reject frameworks that conflate political speech with antisemitism.

We are stoked to share a new project from community members and

They recently launched “True Jew”, a monthly podcast rooted in family conversations, disagreement, grief, laughter, and a shared commitment to building community in a moment when so much is trying to tear it apart.

The show asks big questions about identity, power, responsibility, and what it means to show up for one another’s humanity — especially now.

In a time shaped by violence and repression from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and ongoing crises impacting communities from Palestine to Venezuela to Iran, the podcast invites listeners to stay in conversation across issues, across differences, and across generations.
