As a collaborative of partners working for the Northwest Environmental Justice Center, we meet regularly to make sure we’re supporting one another, learning, and updating each other on the progress of our TCTAC. This fall for our quarterly partner meeting, we were lucky enough to get most of our Region 10 partners in the same room!

Starting the day off with “I am” poems, partners shared a little more about themselves with the group - see snippets of their poems below! We then were able to share some amazing highlights from the progress of the Center thus far! It’s an incredible feeling being able to see the progress and environmental justice solutions our communities are finding!

Last month, our TCTAC team from PSU’s Institute for Tribal Government, Serina Fast Horse and Chrissa Wilkie, had the privilege of attending the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals National Tribal and Indigenous Climate Conference in Anchorage, AK, and visited the Native Village of Tazlina.

During their visit, village staff Lattonya Sawyer and Matthew Jones gave an insightful tour of their community garden, where harvested vegetables are delivered to elders, and their recycling center, where all sorting is done by staff. They shared how climate change is currently impacting their land and wildlife—a powerful reminder of resilience and adaptation in the face of environmental challenges.
