Oregon American String Teachers Association - ASTA

Oregon American String Teachers Association - ASTA Oregon Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (OR-ASTA) Its officers are elected every two years by a vote of the membership.

The Oregon Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (OR-ASTA) was founded to promote string playing in the state of Oregon and to serve Oregon's members of the American String Teachers Association. The American String Teachers Association, founded more than 60 years ago, is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players, helping them to develop and refine their

careers. ASTA's members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. The organization provides a vast array of services, including instrument insurance, an award-winning scholarly journal, discounts on publications and resources, annual professional development opportunities, and access to collegial network of colleagues throughout the string profession.

[from Diane Chaplin]
I have been a member of the National American String Teachers Association ASTACAP committee for four years. We have done a huge amount of work revamping the syllabus handbook for our annual exams - I am the Oregon ASTACAP chair, so I'm deeply involved at home as well. Everyone on the committee volunteers time to enrich the lives of string students, young and old. Today at the annual national meeting our ASTACAP committee received the ASTA Presidential Award for excellence in producing the updated handbook and bolstering the ASTACAP program in general. We are very proud! πŸ†
