It’s (sadly) that time of year !! 😓

Kids are back in school 👩🏿‍🏫, the weather is getting colder and the cloudy skies are back. But, we still have enough sun 🌞 for one more Playstreets !

We’re bringing back Community Energy Project and the Master Recycler program ♻️. There will also be an opportunity to play some mini golf ⛳️ .

And finally, to top it off, we will be having a mural painting 🫟happening during the event to honor Portland artist, Isaka Shamsud-Din 👨🏾‍🎨.

Get ready to laugh, paint, and play on September 8th from 4 - 7 PM 🫂!

Oil up your wallets ! A fundraiser is happening !!

Starting in September, Sabin will be having a fundraiser to help with the construction of an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) as well as appliances for one of our properties. These donations will allow for a community member with disabilities to live comfortably and independently in the ADU.

Special thanks to all our partners involved in this process, including but not limited to: Portland YouthBuilders@Imcconstruction Kuni Foundation Waechter Architecture and many more!!

Oil up your wallets ready ! 💵💵

BACK TO SCHOOL 🚌, BACK TO REALITY 📚

Sabin CDC’s Back to School event was more amazing than we could ever imagine. With over 25+ families coming out to our event, we were able to support more than 40 children with school supplies ✏️ , healthcare 🏥 , and other resources 📓 to ensure they have the best school year possible.

This event couldn’t have been as successful as it was without the help of Kindness Farm 🌿 Black Food Sovereignty Coalition Forge Hot Yoga | Hot Pilates Daytrip Farm Collective and Alberta Cooperative Grocery and other donations from our community !! Thank you all so much for your underlying support and dedication to our community 🫂✨.

Here’s an overview of our first ever Recycling event ♻️ that happened in our very own Center of Joy.

This event was made possible by Sabin’s community engagement intern, Layla and Metro. Both created an opportunity for people to not only do some summer cleaning 🧹before the start of fall, but also a way to keep our environment safe ⛑️.

Thank you to our residents and community for stopping by and supporting our event. Special shoutout to Sabin Resident, Antuanet, who delivered a total of 44.9 lbs. 😯 of recycled material and won herself a certificate and visa gift card.

We look forward to seeing you at our next recycling event 👀.

Attention Sabin Community 📢…

Oakshire Beer Hall and Sabin CDC are coming together for one big night !! 🌃🍺

The event runs from 12 pm - 10 pm. Sabin will be joining 5 pm - 10 pm!

We will be raffling off some amazing items from some amazing places including Portland Cherry Bombs, ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria, Experiment PDX, Pip’s Original and One With Heart 🎟️🙌🏽

Keep in mind, $1 💵 from every core pint 🍺 and 10% of food 🍕 purchased during the event will go back into helping Sabin CDC continue our mission of providing affordable housing 🏡 See ya there!

August Playstreets was a 10/10!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This event would not have been the same without OMSI here to make sure our families were having fun the entire time!! 🔬

As always, thank you so much to the kids, parents, and vendors that came to play. Special shoutout to our regulars as well, you don’t go unnoticed and we appreciate you constantly showing up for us!!🫶🏽🫶🏽

It’s time to Reduce🗑️, Reuse🗞️, and Recycle♻️ with Sabin CDC.

Come join us August 7th from 4 - 6 and again on August 8th 12 - 2 to learn more about recycling from our Master Recycler Volunteer, Layla and even get chance to recycle your own waste and other items that you may have.

Thank you to Rose Haven for letting Sabin CDC take the time to come and volunteer 🌹.

The Sabin team were able to help sort pet supplies 🐇, create beautiful lunch bags 🎨, pack menstrual hygiene 🩸and sort other hygiene products🧴.
