One month from today we will be in community, celebrating PRIDE, providing resources and sharing out about our culturally specific programming for LGBTQIA+ survivors.

Stop by, say hi, take a picture, sticker, brochure and collect a flag 🏳️‍🌈! We’ll be there all weekend and cannot wait to see you!

To Skyla everything begins with kindness, unity, representation, and compassion.

“I love being the person that I needed when it happened to me too,” Skyla shared.

As our Marsha’s Folx Coordinator, providing culturally specific advocacy and trauma-informed care to LGBTQIA+ survivors, Skyla demonstrates everyday how approaching our work with empathy breaks down barriers for those in need of our support.

June’s Word of the Month: Belonging

Belonging: the feeling of being accepted, valued, safe, and able to exist authentically without fear of rejection or discrimination

A sense of belonging is essential to healing, resilience, and well-being, especially for LGBTQIA+ survivors who may have experienced exclusion, discrimination, or isolation. Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and accepted for who they are.

The doors 🚪are open. Our first family is moving in.

Our second Shelter site, Tami Best Lavender, has officially opened and tonight a family fleeing crisis will safely sleep in their new home for the next 90 days. 🏠

A space for healing. A foundation to restart. The beginning of what is next.

The need for safe shelter for survivors to rebuild their lives is growing so our services are growing too. Our facilities and dedicated Shelter Team are proud to serve anyone impacted by domestic violence, and are inclusive of all identities.

June’s Word of the Month: Allyship

Allyship: the active, consistent practice of supporting and advocating for marginalized people, especially by using one’s voice, actions, and privilege to promote equality and inclusion

Allyship is about actively listening, learning, and using one’s voice and influence to support LGBTQIA+ survivors. It is about advocating for equity and inclusion. Centering the voices and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ survivors ensures their perspectives guide conversations, decisions, and solutions that affect their lives and communities.

🏠“We want decent housing fit for shelter of human beings.”🏠

Our Housing Team recently attended the annual Housing First Partners Conference in San Francisco!

While soaking up learning, renewing their energy to advance Housing First solutions in our community, and strengthening partnerships- they also were able to soak up some sunshine and make time to explore!🌊

To Tyree it is all about providing resources, navigating challenges, celebrating successes, and getting closer to attaining goals!

Tyree said, “The most rewarding part is building genuine connections and creating a space where people feel seen, respected, and supported for who they are. Watching participants gain stability, confidence, and hope for the future reminds me why this work matters.”

As our Marsha’s Folx Advocate, providing culturally specific advocacy and trauma informed care to LGBTQIA+ survivors, Tyree knows how impactful it is when you show up in meaningful ways.
