Its only the middle of October, do you have your shirts yet? If not, dont worry we will be taking orders for them till the end of October.

Our Breast cancer awareness fundraiser campaign is in full swing. We're hoping to beat out last fundraiser which raised $5,000. I think we can do it!

The orders made between 9/26 and 10/5 will be shipping this weekend so xpect them next week!!

NFPA 1710 establishes that four-person staffing on fire engines and trucks is the baseline national standard for public safety.

Operating with a full four-person crew ensures compliance with OSHA’s "two-in/two-out" safety rule, allowing firefighters to initiate an interior rescue immediately upon arrival. Research shows that four-person crews complete critical fireground tasks 25% to 30% faster than smaller crews, significantly improving victim survivability and reducing firefighter injury rates.
Adequate staffing is necessary to maintain standard emergency response capabilities and protect the community.

Call volumes for fire departments across Maine have nearly doubled in the last 10 years but staffing is a serious problem, especially for those that rely on volunteers. FULL STORY ⬇️

The department is pleased to congratulate Captain Sheldon Gregoire, our September Employee of the Month. This small honor recognizes Captain Gregoire's consistent hard work and positive attitude. Captain Gregoire joined the department in July 2004, was promoted to lieutenant in September 2018 and captain in February 2023.

Prior to his current assignment on Ladder 3, Platoon 1, Captain Gregoire was assigned to Car 9 and for several years now has played an instrumental role in EMS Operations.

Thank you, Captain Gregoire, for your continued hard work and dedication to the department and City of Portland, Maine.

We remember Charles W. Barrett, Badge #5, who on this day in 1908 died in the line of duty. Firefighter Barrett joined the department as a Callman in 1901 and became a permanent member in June 1908.

Assigned to Engine 1, Firefighter Barrett died as a result of a high voltage electrical shock at a still alarm at the Congress Square Hotel. He was 41 years old.

For his supreme sacrifice he is remembered, and in the dedication and courage of all our active members, and all firefighters past and present, his spirit lives on.
