Residents encouraged to move into snow ban lots Sunday night

Ahead of an approaching Nor’easter storm, the City of Portland has declared a citywide parking ban beginning at 10:00 PM Monday, February 23 through 6:00 AM Tuesday, February 24. Vehicles left on city streets after 10:00 PM on Monday night can be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. Portland is currently forecasted for about 8" of snow with wind gusts up to 40mph. There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect from February 22, 07:00 PM EST until February 23, 10:00 PM EST. With snow expected to arrive around 4:00 AM on Monday morning, residents are encouraged to move their vehicles into available snow ban parking locations tonight, Sunday, February 22, ahead of the storm and remain in those spots until the end of the parking ban on Tuesday morning. The City will open the Spring Street and Elm Street parking garages on Sunday night from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM to accommodate anyone wishing to take advantage of the snow ban parking rate of $3 (in after 5pm Sunday and out by 8am Tuesday).
