Congratulations, Krystal! 🎭✨

We had the absolute joy of celebrating one of our beloved educators this week—Krystal Hernandez just completed an incredible run in SIX on Broadway. What a milestone, what a talent.

But this celebration was about so much more than opening night. It was about honoring Krystal’s years of dedication to Speak About It, the lives she’s touched, and the brave conversations she’s helped create in classrooms and communities. Her work has made a real difference.

A special thank you to Shane Diamond, our founder and former Executive Director, for bringing together educators from across our history to celebrate Krystal and all of her accomplishments. And to Caitlyn Jones, our current Board President, for being part of this beautiful moment of community and gratitude.
This is what we’re about—showing up for each other, celebrating growth, and honoring the people who pour their hearts into this work.

We're going to have a lovely time kicking off our 15 year anniversary with EQME Network for Older Adults on Thursday!

Somehow it is already the third week of Pride month, and we have some special events lined up for the next few days!

TOMORROW: We are thrilled that our friends at Speak About It want to celebrate their 15 year anniversary with EQME and NOA! Tomorrow (Thursday June 19) Speak About It is coming to the NOA dinner to offer a brief workshop on sharing meaningful, inclusive, powerful stories about s*xuality and relationships. Following that, some Speak About It educators and staff will share their own stories and invite NOA members to share stories if interested with the hope of creating connection across generations and experiences! To ensure there is time for the evening's events, dinner will begin slightly earlier this month at 5:30 PM. Tomorrow is also Juneteenth! SATURDAY: March or ride with NOA at Portland Pride on Saturday June 21st! If you're interested in joining us in the parade, look for us between 12:30 - 1:00 PM at the intersection of Congress and Brown Street. SUNDAY: NOA's Augusta luncheon is usually on the third Saturday of each month, but the June luncheon has been moved to the following day Sunday June 22 to account for the Portland Pride parade happening on Saturday. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you are able to join us on SUNDAY, June 22 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM! This meal is free, and there is no cost to attend.
