Our latest REAP newsletter is out.

This month’s edition highlights the students, conversations, and community work continuing to shape what leadership, advocacy, and support look like across Oregon.

Inside, you’ll find stories centered around youth voice, behavioral health, educational equity, and the partnerships helping move this work forward, along with a few upcoming opportunities we’re excited to share with our community.

Students are not waiting for change. They are already leading it.

Recently, REAP students took part in the Cascade Alliance for Equity (CAFÉ) Summit at Portland Community College, joining students from across Oregon in conversations around equity, access, and student leadership.

Students presented on topics including youth voice, CTE education, expanding AP access, and the impact of AI deepfakes and misinformation on young people and schools.

The CAFÉ Summit reflected what we see every day at REAP: young people using their voices, experiences, and leadership to help shape the future of education across Oregon.

Proud of every student who stepped forward and shared their perspective.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that support, trusted relationships, and access to care can make a real difference in a young person’s life.

At REAP, that work happens through programs and initiatives like our Behavioral Health Program, Youth SAVE (Su***de Assessment In Various Environments), Black Youth Su***de Prevention Coalition (BYSPC), Youth Advisory Council (YAC), and Youth Engagement Action Team (YEAT).

Alongside longtime partners like the Oregon Health Authority, this work helps connect young people and families across Oregon to culturally responsive support, trusted resources, and community.

Oregon officially signed the Licensed Behavioral Health and Wellness Practitioner bill, SB 1547, into law, helping expand access to youth behavioral health support across the state.

This legislation creates a stronger pathway for behavioral health graduates to provide early-intervention support for children and families, while helping schools and community organizations build more sustainable systems of care.

REAP was proud to support this bill through testimony and advocacy, and we were honored to have our CEO, Mark Jackson, present for the bill signing.

Thank you to Governor Tina Kotek, First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson, Dr. Katie McLaughlin and The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health at the University of Oregon, Representative Lisa Reynolds, Karanja Crews, and the many advocates and organizations who helped make this possible.

An important step forward for youth wellbeing and access to care across Oregon.

Meet Jesus and Kyle, two seniors at Franklin High School.

Both have been part of REAP for the past two years. Through the program, they’ve built confidence, stepped outside their comfort zones, and picked up skills they know they’ll carry with them.

But what stands out most is the support. Having someone in their corner through the highs and the challenges. Someone who shows up consistently.

For them, it’s more than a program. It’s family.

Every student deserves to learn in an environment where they feel seen, supported, and able to succeed. That kind of environment starts with the adults leading it.

That’s why our IGNITE team exists.

IGNITE helps schools and organizations build equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive environments through training, coaching, and assessments.

From restorative practices and trauma-informed care to school climate, SEL, and leadership development, our team works alongside educators to create real, lasting change.
