Oregon’s Kitchen Table creates ways for people to share what they think with decision makers on important public issues.

Oregon’s Kitchen Table is a program to allow Oregonians to weigh in on our most important public policy issues. Our leaders know that during these critical times, input from all of us is more important than ever. The Kitchen Table is a space to gather real-time feedback, resources, and ideas from Oregonians. Everyone has a seat at Oregon’s Kitchen Table. Oregon’s Kitchen Table is a program of the National Policy Consensus Center at Portland State University's College of Urban and Public Affairs.

OKT spent the day with families from across Oregon for Willamette Connections Academy’s annual Fall Fest in Salem. As usual, the wooden mushroom painting was a big hit! We got to check in with multilingual learners we met last year and hear about what helps support learning in multiple languages. 💕

This fall and winter, Oregon’s Kitchen Table is partnering with the Central Oregon Civic Action Project (COCAP) to host a Civic Assembly on AI, from December 5–6 in Redmond, Oregon.

We are inviting Central Oregonians to apply to serve as delegates for this event. No AI, technology, or policy background is required. From the registration pool, 30 to 40 residents will be selected by lottery to form a representative cross-section of the region. Delegates will spend two days learning from balanced information and experts, asking questions, deliberating together, and developing community-centered recommendations to share publicly and with local and state institutions. The question we’ll be addressing is: How should Central Oregonians be involved in local & state decisions related to AI technology & infrastructure?
Delegates will receive a $250 stipend, plus reimbursement for transportation and family/child care. Apply today!

Registration closes Saturday October 3, 2026.

Grace, Gurnoor, Anya, and Marek are so excited to be supporting the eight teams this year. They love hot Cheetos, pickles, dried mango, and Twix bars, and their favorite ways to express themselves includes poetry, journaling, art, and dying their hair.

Are you having déjà-vu? You might be!

We realized we made a mistake with an earlier posting of the last cross-regional Hatfield Future team and so we are re-posting their info to make sure they have the right quotes, and snacks, attributed to them. This is the eighth and final team for Hatfield Futures, which is now just a month away (we can hardly believe it!!). Click through to learn more about this wonderful team!

We're so excited to have the students on PSU's campus in just a few weeks to do lots of future-thinking together. See you all there!
