Calling all architects, urban designers, engineers, and fellow AECO colleagues!

We’re looking for about 7 lead design and 6 design mentors for our Architecture Summer Camp taking place June 25–27 from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM. Help inspire middle school students as they explore architecture, design, and the future of their communities through hands-on activities and collaborative projects.

As a Design Mentor, you’ll work directly with students as they develop ideas, build models, think critically about public space, and discover how design shapes everyday life. Whether you’re an experienced professional or a student passionate about the built environment, your perspective and support can make a lasting impact.

Join us in encouraging the next generation of creative thinkers, problem-solvers, and community leaders.

Volunteer registration is available through our website at www.nomapdx.org/summer-camp

We’re super excited to collab with Ahlam as a continuation from our recent “Where are my people: Black Creatives” event, thanks to our hosts .

Ahlam Osman .jpeg is a Somali-American creative strategist & founder who continues to envision how to make changes locally to create connected, restorative, and emotionally resilient community. She’s currently working with Albina Vision Trust and leading the Women & Climate Portland Chapter. Considering that her name means “dreams” in Arabic its no wonder she’s determined to make her dreams reality in her community from opening the first Somali-owned late night coffee shop to running for City Council in 2024.

We’re grateful for this local leader bringing the community along as she follows her dream that serves as a love letter from her roots to the future we’re building together.
