The National Honors and Awards Committee would like to hear from you! As part of a review of our existing programs review (and a broader engagement effort), we are inviting all AIA members to complete a brief survey about two of our awards programs - the Collaborative Achievement Award, and the Edward C. Kemper Award.

Your feedback will help us better understand awareness, relevance, and opportunities to enhance the value of these programs for members and the profession. No prior familiarity with either award is required to take the survey. Please take a few minutes to fill this out if you're able, the deadline to fill out this survey is September 30.

Creating Community starts with listening and learning from your community.

Here are 9 of the dozens of the speakers who will joining us for ODC26:

Kaarin Knudson, AIA mayor of Eugene will be joined by Abby Dacey, AIA and Chandra D. Robinson, AIA NOMA and focus on how Architects are uniquely positioned to navigate complex systems and translate shared values into the built environment and how not every opportunity to make an impact arrives through traditional project work.

Eric Corey Freed, AIA, LEED Fellow will focus on how strong communities require a foundation of health. Yet, your zip code predicts longevity more than genetics or lifestyle. Amidst rising climate volatility, the built environment must transition from a passive backdrop to an active health intervention.

Stephanie Morales, AIA NOMA will be joined by Andrea Sofia Champion and will focus on how architects should design for communities, not just for themselves. The interactive session explores how centering lived experience and cultural expertise leads to stronger, more resonant designs.

Sid Scott, AIA founder of Scott Edwards Architecture will be joined by Dr. Ernesto Fonseca and Roseva Saa will focus on how the Portland Mercado was designed as a grassroots economic development project to help Latino entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses and helped to transform the Lents Neighborhood in Portland.

What does it mean to create community?
For this year’s Oregon Design Conference, we’ve selected nine buildings that we believe do more than bring people together: they create space to inspire everyone, educate the next generation of problem solvers, and demonstrate what’s possible when design puts people first.
Tours will be led by the design teams behind these projects: Bora Architecture & Interiors, Holst, LEVER Architecture, Hennebery Eddy Architects, Kango Kuma & Associates, Noll & Tam Architects:

Congratulations to AIA Oregon’s newest Fellows:
Katherine Shaloo Berg, FAIA – ZGF Architects
Stuart Emmons, FAIA – Emmons Design LLC
Thomas F. Robinson, FAIA – LEVER Architecture

The Fellowship designation (FAIA) is one of the highest honors bestowed by the American Institute of Architects, recognizing individuals who have made a profound impact on the profession and society. Fewer than 3% of AIA members achieve this distinction.

These architects have demonstrated excellence through design, leadership, mentorship, and service. Their work not only elevates the built environment but also advances the role of architects in shaping a better, more equitable world. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and their lasting contributions to the field.
