Help expand food access on the Oregon Coast!

Architects Without Borders Oregon is launching a new volunteer project with Florence Food Share, a nonprofit serving 4,800 people and distributing 800,000+ pounds of food each year.

They’ve outgrown their space. We’re forming a design team to help expand and better connect their pantry and warehouse.

Learn about the project, meet the team, and see how you can get involved. No long-term commitment required.
Architects, engineers, landscape architects, and students welcome.

If you’ve been meaning to get involved, this is an easy place to start.

Construction is moving forward at Wogagen School in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia, with Building 4 starting to take shape. These photos show the same vantage point over time, with Classroom Buildings 2 and 3 in the background as the campus continues to grow.

Since 2013, Architects Without Borders Oregon has supported this long-term effort to create a sustainable, modular school serving up to 1,000 students, alongside gardens, orchards, and water systems.

Next up, masonry starts going vertical as blocks are stacked for the new walls.

2025 was a pivotal year for Architects Without Borders-Oregon.

An increase in requests for design support and a return to in-person meetings reenergized our non-profit after a few years of working mostly online.

We also marked a major milestone with AWB Oregon’s 20th anniversary celebration, a reminder of the strength of our volunteer network and the impact of design in service of communities in need.

Looking ahead, this momentum continues to drive our work forward.

Check out our link in bio for a special shout out to firms and businesses that supported us.

There is something remarkable about what happens when people decide to give their time, talent, and imagination to something larger than themselves. Architects Without Borders-Oregon has spent twenty years showing that design can be an act of generosity, that a drawing, a conversation, or a few hours after work can ripple outward into whole communities.

To everyone who joined us to celebrate last week, to our host (Clark/Kjos Architects) the sponsors ( Hammer and Hand, Aman Structural Engineering LLC, Neo Home Loans, Clement Walsh, Delavan Realty) In-kind contributors (Eleni’s Kitchen, NorthWest Place) raffle donors who lifted the night (Studio One Theater, Eleni’s Kitchen, Birdie Time Pub, Kennedy School, Fred Meyer Jewelry, Missing Link Sausage Company) and to the volunteers who have shown up year after year, thank you. The work only happens because of you.

Here’s to another twenty years of designing more hope into the world!
