Established in 2019 and composed of members from local agencies, sponsored by Portland Fire Fighters' Association IAFF Local 43, we are a Pipe Band who serve our community through traditional Scotish music.

Slow and methodical togetherness around the table is critical building new tunes. Here’s a sneak peak at our new hornpipe, Jimmy Blue. In time tempo will increase as we create a stable foundation.

On Tuesday June 16th, 2026, we had the honor to perform again at the DPSST Oregon Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial to remember the 185 Oregon firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1881.

Three names added to the memorial this year are: Portland Fire & Rescue Retired Captain Paul J. (Jim) Bieker Jr., U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fire Planner Brian Robert Wolgamott, and Sutherlin Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Merlino. They shall not be forgotten.

Pipe bands belong in the community, sharing our love of music, and appreciation for their support. It was a tremendous honor once again to participate in the 2026 Portland Grand Floral parade, marking 122 years, often including fire apparatus decorated with roses.

When a pipe band leaves we are playing to reaffirm our work, enjoy a job well done, and relax into the music. Details still matter and focus must remain constant from the first sound to the last.

The first national observance of what would become Memorial Day occurred on May 30, 1868. Known as Decoration Day, the holiday was proclaimed to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. Today we were honored again to observe and remember so many who haven given their lives for our Country.

Rehearsal tells the truth.

It exposes weak spots.
Builds confidence.
Creates discipline.
And prepares Bands for performing.

You can always tell which Bands make rehearsal a priority and it shows in how they operate, communicate, and carry themselves on scene.

Pipe Band is not the place to figure things out for the first time.

Practice with purpose.
Rehearse like it matters.

Because it matters.

Music is in the open space, the distance between movements, a patience to feel the power of music .

The moment a pipe band enters a room two things occur. First, the crowd sees the pageantry and hears the power of our music. Second, the pipe band sees in an instant, the purpose of all our effort. Thank you Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation.

A support system is very important. At Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation we have a tradition to walk our significant other into the event and seat them prior to our performance. This year over 65 of these members were in attendance. This is a formal recognition to honor their sacrifice. The sacrifice of long hours away for rehearsal, road trips for performance, and the highs and lows of pipe band life. These spouses and others attend to cheer us on, or work in the tuning room, or capture media for us. You are the greatest reason for our tremendous growth, as you have been always on our side. Thank you.
