Amy was many things to many people. She lived her life attempting to help those who could not help themselves. Amy was a 1995 graduate of Tremper High School. She graduated as a Top 20 Outstanding Senior for her involvement and academics. While at Tremper, she took all honors and advanced placement courses. Academics were not Amy’s only priority. She took pride in her school and her community. She

was a member of the A Capella choir her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was the president of Key Club, Sub Deb, and her sophomore class. Along with those leadership positions, she served on student congress, was an outstanding soccer player and cheerleader, and was selected for the All-County golf team. Amy was also a member of the first World Champion C*C Raider Competitive Cheerleading Squad. She was also a member of both prom and homecoming court. Outside of her high school endeavors, she was named Kenosha’s Junior Miss and was 2nd runner-up at the state pageant. After receiving an excellent educational foundation at Tremper, Amy attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. There she earned a degree in political science and history, with honors distinction. While in college, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and worked with many other philanthropic organizations through her sorority, Alpha Phi. Amy also spent a summer studying abroad in the Czech Repulic. Amy went from the college classroom to teaching in a classroom when she joined the Teach for America program and taught in inner-city Houston for two years. After completing her time in Houston, she traveled to Madagascar for the summer with members of the Peace Corps to help in a project to build latrines. Most recently, she spent eight months in Guatemala, through an affiliate program of Amnesty International, to accompany Guatemalan refugees. At the time of her death, Amy was finishing her first year at the University of Chicago, pursuing a Masters Degree in public policy and preparing to enter the University of Chicago’s law school the following fall.
