This photo may look alarming, but what you're seeing are the effects of severe demodectic mange. The scabs covering her body are the result of inflammation, skin infections, and damage caused by an overgrowth of Demodex mites, which can occur when a puppy's immune system is unable to keep them under control.
The amazing part? This photo was taken after just 5 days in her foster home. While she still has a long road ahead, she is already leaps and bounds better than when she arrived. The redness has improved, she's much more comfortable, and her healing journey is well underway.
Recovery from severe demodectic mange doesn't happen overnight, but every day she gets a little stronger, a little healthier, and a little closer to the happy, comfortable puppy she deserves to be. β€οΈ
