Allow us to invite you into our foster group chat for a second...

This morning, one of our foster moms summed up fostering in 15 words or less:

"Is it a lot of work? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely."

And honestly, we couldn't have said it any better ourselves. ❤️

PS... this group chat is also what we warn every new foster about before we officially bring them on board. 😂

What starts out as the "foster group chat" quickly becomes something much more. It's less of a work chat and more of a family chat. It's where we celebrate adoptions, cry over difficult cases, share updates at all hours of the day, ask for advice, laugh at puppy antics, and support each other through it all. And sometimes? We go completely off the rails and end up discussing things that have absolutely nothing to do with dogs or cats. 🤣

The animals may be the reason we come together, but the people are what make this rescue feel like family.

And while only active foster parents are allowed in the group chat, we're always looking for new family members to join the chaos. 🐾

This photo may look alarming, but what you're seeing are the effects of severe demodectic mange. The scabs covering her body are the result of inflammation, skin infections, and damage caused by an overgrowth of Demodex mites, which can occur when a puppy's immune system is unable to keep them under control.

The amazing part? This photo was taken after just 5 days in her foster home. While she still has a long road ahead, she is already leaps and bounds better than when she arrived. The redness has improved, she's much more comfortable, and her healing journey is well underway.

Recovery from severe demodectic mange doesn't happen overnight, but every day she gets a little stronger, a little healthier, and a little closer to the happy, comfortable puppy she deserves to be. ❤️
