Last week the Sisters performed a traditional Bon dance, a communal circle dance held to honor and remember deceased ancestors. While the Bon dance is rooted in Japanese Buddhist traditions, it has become a joyful community event in Hawaii, attended by people from all backgrounds and faiths. Legacy residents had a chance to participate in the dance and enjoy traditional Japanese treats. A huge thanks to the students from St. Joseph's Academy who assisted with the festivities!

The Sisters planted a milkweed butterfly garden, and so far they have two Monarch caterpillars safely residing in a caterpillar house in our front lobby. In the wild, Monarch caterpillars have only a 2-10% chance of survival, but in an enclosure, that survival rate increases to 90%. We can't wait to see butterflies emerging soon!
