Hello everyone! My name is Reagan and I am thrilled to announce that I am the new museum manager of the Pleasant Prairie History Museum! I am excited to work for the museum and the local community.
I have a background in anthropology, archaeology, public history and museum studies. I have a love for backpacking, film photography, and of course zooarchaeology (my specialty is shells 🐚 do not get me started on how cool mollusks are).

I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know Pleasant Prairie. Please stop by the museum anytime to say hello or share your favorite memories of the area or our museum. See you soon!

What did the pitch fork say on April first?

"April Tools Day!"

Named for the act of "pitching" bundles of hay into a barn or wagon, forks like this one have been used for hundreds of years to move hay, straw, manure, and other materials. Although most commonly known as pitch forks, these and similar tools go by a variety of names including the hay fork, the garden fork, the straw fork, and the manure fork. Much like this fork from our collection, early versions of these tools were made from wood, although steel tines would eventually become the standard.
