✨ 1,000 Days of Hope, Healing, and Freedom ✨
Today, we celebrate a milestone that is about so much more than a number.

For 1,000 days, Her Safe Haven has opened its doors and its heart to women seeking safety, healing, and a fresh start. Over the past 1,000 days, we have had the privilege of serving more than 50 women as they worked to overcome the trauma of sexual exploitation and addiction and build lives filled with hope and purpose.

This journey has been marked by incredible growth and transformation. Together, we have:

💚 Embraced a new identity through our transition to Her Safe Haven
💚 Celebrated 20 graduations and watched women rise above barriers that once felt impossible
💚 Increased our licensed residential capacity from 7 to 10 women, allowing us to serve more survivors in need
💚 Celebrated sobriety anniversaries that were prayed for, fought for, and courageously earned
💚 Grown our team to include lived-experience experts who know firsthand what it takes to move from surviving to thriving
💚 Cultivated a community rooted in faith, safety, healing, and connection

Every survivor who has walked through our doors, every staff member, volunteer, donor, community partner, and prayer warrior has played a part in this story.

As we celebrate 1,000 days, we are filled with gratitude for all that has been accomplished and excitement for the lives that will continue to be transformed in the days ahead.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping make healing possible.

Here’s to the next chapter of hope, restoration, and freedom. 💚

✨Tune in to KDKA (Local Channel 2) today at 3:00pm to hear more from Sarah Medina, Director of Operations, and Karleigh Maide, Assistant Program Director and Survivor Leader.

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the brave women out there in recovery, putting on their own oxygen masks, doing the hard task of healing to rediscover the best version of themselves. To the women who are flipping the script and putting a stop to the cycle of trauma and abuse—for their children and for themselves.

We see you.

You are loved 💙💙💙

Access to care shouldn’t be a barrier to healing.

Too many survivors face challenges finding trauma-informed therapy due to cost, insurance limitations, or lack of credentialed providers. That’s where VCAP can make a difference—and where you come in.

Join PAAR for a virtual workshop on how to become a therapist who accepts VCAP, and help expand access to critical services for survivors across our community.

Healing doesn’t pause when the lights go out.

At Her Safe Haven, women are supported with 24/7 awake staffing because trauma doesn’t follow a schedule. Many survivors experience night terrors and moments of fear in the middle of the night—and in those moments, they are never alone. A trained, compassionate staff member is always present to offer reassurance, safety, and a loving touch when it’s needed most.

This around-the-clock care is a vital part of restoring trust, dignity, and peace.

Healing often begins before therapy ever starts.

At Her Safe Haven, women are first given space to rest, feel safe, and realize they are not alone. Through shared meals, everyday routines, group connection, creative outlets, and community life, they begin to glimpse what a healthy, “normal” life can look like—sometimes for the very first time.

This sense of safety and belonging is powerful in itself.

Thank you for standing with the women of Her Safe Haven.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in community.

At Her Safe Haven, women live alongside others who understand their journey while receiving comprehensive care: medical, psychological, addiction treatment, dental services, and ongoing case management. From helping restore identity documents to imagining a future once thought impossible, healing begins the moment they arrive.

Many women come to us without dreams—having been told their worth was only what someone paid for them. Through a faith-based, trauma-informed approach, we walk with them as they begin to heal, rediscover hope, and believe again in their God-given worth.
