CLIENT CORNER! Megan* and her Supports Coordinator have been working together for over three months. During their interactions, Megan always shared her latest artwork with her Supports Coordinator, and they talked about what inspired her to create her pieces. During a recent visit, Megan excitedly shared the news that, in addition to already being featured in a museum in Europe, she has been contacted to curate a piece especially for the Special Olympics. STAFF SPOTLIGHT! ChelseySue Wheeler is a Program Manager within the Supports Coordination Unit and has been with Familylinks for eight years. As a Program Manager, ChelseySue oversees staff, clients, and program operations. ChelseySue also supports the development, interpretation, and implementation of policies, strategies, and outcomes. ChelseySue says she finds fulfillment in ensuring individuals receive the support, resources, and services they need to achieve their goals. In her free time, ChelseySue coaches a local high school cheer team, works out, shops, and spends time with her family and friends.

Maxwell tried therapy previously but found himself turning to substances when he was asked to look deeper at his trauma. Through Familylinks’ Outpatient Mental Health program, Maxwell was connected with a therapist who is licensed in Co-Occurring Disorders, allowing him to receive support to address both his mental health and substance use issues. STAFF SPOTLIGHT! Tamerya Smith is a Residential Counselor/Behavior Modification Specialist through our Behavioral Health division. In this role, Tamerya supports young adults at the Familylinks Boys Shelter and the Adolescent Semi-Independent Living program. Tamerya says she truly enjoys working with the young adults because they are open to discussing their feelings and how to manage them. Tamerya encourages young adults to utilize their creativity to express the emotions they are experiencing. In her free time, Tamerya enjoys gardening and podcasting, and she is an ordained minister.

September is Recovery Awareness Month. During this month, we take time to celebrate those who are recovering from substance use, whether for four days, four months, or four years. Familylinks supports those in recovery through our Outpatient Therapy programs.
