East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) EECM is an interfaith human services organization serving the East End of Pittsburgh.

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) was founded in 1970 as a collective response to changes in the community, born when the leaders of 18 local faith communities recognized that the troubles of the community were too great for any one of them to address alone. Starting with interracial breakfasts for Peabody High School students, EECM’s services have expanded as the needs of the community have dictated. For many of the individuals it serves, EECM provides the necessities of life: a hot meal, a safe, place to sleep, food for the family. For others, it is a place to regain strength after a hospital stay, a support system to work toward recovery, or one-on-one help to change life for the better. For young people, EECM is educational programs, drug and alcohol prevention programs, violence prevention programs, Summer Day Camp, and a concerted effort to show our children a better future. Our three programs include Children & Youth Services, Community Nutrition Services, and IMPACTS (Individuals Making Progress and Change through Self-Sufficiency).

We were honored to open our doors at East End Cooperative Ministry last week for State Representative La’Tasha D. Mayes’s 2026 Maternal Health Fair!

Bringing together more than 20 maternal health organizations from across Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, the fair connected community members with valuable resources, information, and support for maternal health and well-being.

At EECM, we’re proud to be a place where our community can gather, connect, and access resources that make a difference. We’re grateful to have hosted such a meaningful event and to see our space serve as a gathering place for initiatives that strengthen our community.

On October 8–9, EECM President and CEO Dr. Diona Jones, will join Light of Life Rescue Mission’s Executive Director, Jerrel Gilliam, for Conversations on a Bench—a national event hosted by Citygate Network.

For 24 hours, rescue missions across North America will create space for open, honest conversations about homelessness, addiction, and mental health. Here in Pittsburgh, Dr. Jones will join Jerrel as a community leader and guest, sharing EECM’s perspective and experience as an organization that provides resources and support to neighbors facing the impacts of homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges.

Dr. Jones’ participation reflects EECM’s commitment to listening, building understanding, and working alongside community partners to support our neighbors.

There’s still time to donate a new or gently used coat to EECM’s annual Coat Drive! Coat donations will be accepted through October 9.

🧥 Drop off used winter coats at Strong Cleaners or Magic Dry Cleaners:

Bring gently used winter coats in a plastic bag and let the clerk know they’re for the EECM Coat Drive. Coats will be cleaned for free and delivered directly to EECM.

🧥 Drop off winter coats at EECM:

New coats with tags and gently used coats can be dropped off at 6140 Station Street, Entrance A through October 9.

We are excited to announce EECM’s inaugural end-of-year event, Night of Inspiration!

Taking place on Friday, November 20, we’ll gather at our East End facility for a special evening of celebration, connection, and inspiration. Together, we’ll celebrate the people and stories at the heart of EECM’s work while raising critical funds to support our neighbors facing the impacts of poverty.

Join us for good food, live entertainment, inspiring stories, art by featured local artists, a silent auction, and opportunities to support EECM while connecting with others who believe in building a stronger, more inclusive community.

It’s that time of year again! We’re calling on our friends to donate a new or gently used coat (dry-cleaned) to our Share the Warmth Coat Drive.

Drop off used winter coats at Strong Cleaners or Magic Dry Cleaners between September 8 and October 9 to have them cleaned for free. Once cleaned, the coats will be delivered directly to EECM!

Bring your donation in plastic bags and let the clerk know that they are for the EECM Coat Drive. Bring in your own dry cleaning or laundry at the same time and receive 50% off when you pre-pay! (no leather, suede, fur, or alterations)

You can also drop off gently used and new coats (must have tags!) at East End Ministry, 6140 Station Street, Entrance until October 9th. Questions? Email [email protected].

September is National Recovery Month. 💜

Recovery is a journey, and no one should have to walk it alone. At EECM, we’re committed to standing beside individuals and families facing addiction, hardship, and barriers to stability and connecting them to the support and resources they need to build a brighter, more sustainable future.

Throughout the month, we’ll be joining our community in recognizing and celebrating the many roads to recovery and the people who travel them.

Join us at the Pittsburgh Recovery Walk on September 12! Come celebrate recovery and connect with others at this free community event featuring music, kids’ activities, speakers, food trucks, a resource fair, recovery awards, and more.

As our Summer of Success Campaign comes to a close, we’re proud to share that together, we exceeded our $30,000 goal and raised an incredible $34,558.64!

Because of your generosity, EECM can continue providing more of our neighbors with the resources, guidance, and support they need to build skills, gain confidence, and work toward successful futures.

As we look toward fall, EECM is preparing for an exciting season filled with opportunities to connect, give, learn, and make an impact in our community. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more news and details about what’s ahead!
