Meet the Artist 🎨

This year, we're unveiling something truly special live at Night of Inspiration and starting a tradition that will define the event for years to come.

Marlana Adele Vassar is a Pittsburgh-based multidisciplinary visual artist working across public art, sculpture, painting, installation, and illustration. Her work explores connection, resilience, identity, and the power of creativity to bring people together. Vassar’s public art commissions and community-based projects have been created for organizations and institutions including the City of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museum of Art, and City Theatre Company. Lucas and Benoy have a pretty good schedule for their mentorship: Fortnite on one call and history quizzes on the next. Combining two of Lucas’s favorite things, his friendship with Benoy continues to flourish. While the schedule is predictable and standard, you never know what videochat filter Lucas is going to use in the middle of the call. When Lucas and Benoy get together, we can’t help but have the biggest smile on our faces!

Ashley's Trip to the Zoo 🐾

Earlier this month, Ashley took a trip to the Columbus Zoo to visit her zookeeper mentor, Stephanie. Ashley got a complete behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of a zookeeper. Throughout her tour, she was introduced to cheetahs, warthogs, and hyenas. She even got to check out the vet area and surgery rooms as she explores what a career in this field could look like.
